Queuing is an inevitable situation experienced in everyday life. In any service system, a queue forms whenever current demand exceeds the current capacity to serve. In this paper, an analysis of the queuing situation at the ticket windows in the Nigerian Railway Corporation Lagos Terminus was carried out. To achieve this, primary data was obtained by observation and an appropriate queuing model was used to analyze the system and calculated its performance measures. Results showed that increasing the number of servers lead to a decrease in the average waiting time of passengers in queue and a decrease in the average waiting time of passenger in the system. Therefore by applying Queuing theory, the waiting time of passengers can be determined and improved upon. The study therefore recommends that management in railway stations can use results from queuing analysis in making decisions that increase the efficiency of operations at their ticket windows.

A queue is something that usually happened in our daily life. People tend to queue in many situations such as at the hospital, bank counter, post office and many more to get the service. However, long and unmanaged queues should not happen. The time will be wasted as the effect of the queue since people need to wait for hours before being served. Other than that, every organization has their own limited time to serve their customers. Due to that limitation, it leads to overcrowding and unmanageable queues for the customers. Ensuing this, queuing theory model will be applied for the situation in Road Transport Department located in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan. One of the main objectives is to analyze and compare the customer waiting time queuing model and simulation model. M/M/s queuing model is being performed on the collected data and simulation with ARENA software is used to build and verify the result.

The purpose of this paper is to study the important role of Queuing Theory in reducing Waiting time of customer in Queuing model. The various Queuing models were used to study the different aspects and parameters which interpret the lacuna in Queuing models which helps to improve the system. It will reduced the waiting time of customer and service cost of service facility.

The operations managers of Mega Petroleum Stations were not able to determine the best number of servers that can serve arriving customers at various demand periods which affects their queue performance. This study was conducted at NNPC Mega Petroleum Station in Enugu, Nigeria with the aim of addressing the identified problem. Experimental observations were conducted simultaneously on the referenced service facilities in order to collect the daily arrival rates of customers. Arrival rates and combined service rates were however, collected at every 15 minutes interval and at peak demand periods of the day. From the results of the queuing evaluations, it was discovered that at an average of 6 servers being used, with combined service rate ( ) of 1.5320 cars/minutes and average customer arrival rate of 1.5153 cars/minutes, for NNPC mega petroleum station Enugu gave a system utilization (P) of 0.9892 which gave a percentage system utilization of 98.9%. It was discovered that the service...
The study examined the application of queuing model to ease travelers' flow in the Nigerian international airports. Travelers experiencing long queuing for boarding and arrival at the airport is not only at the local airports but also a growing concern to the stakeholders at the international airports, these queues have led to loss of time, resources and contributed to creating health problems for some travelers while on queue in which some have even collapse and die in the process. This study aims to develop a structural model (or flow chart) to ease travelers flow within different operational servicing units in the Nigeria Airport. The study employed observational and ex-post facto research designs. The population of the study are infinite (travelers at the airports) and finite (entire international airports in Nigeria). Cochran's (1977) formula was used to get the sample size from infinite population to be 246. Convenient sampling technique was used to select two international airports wile accidental sampling technique was used to select the sample from the infinite population. Content validity and Cronbach's alpha reliability was used to measure the research instrument. The observational data were analysed using TORA optimization application. After a three-day observation of the travelers' movement at 6 airlines desk at the chosen airport with the introduction of multiple queue multiple server in parallel model developed reveals on the average for the 6 airlines, number of customer in the system is 4.04 travelers, while the average number of travelers waiting in a queue per hour is 1.49. The average time traveler spent in the system (wait-inline and been served) is 0.022 (1.33minute) while the average time a traveler spends in the queue waiting for service is 0.0096 (0.58minutes).

This study focused on the queuing system in Nigerian banking sector. The sources of data were primary and were collected from Zenith Bank Plc, Abakaliki Branch at the withdrawal section of the banking hall for four days in a period of one month interval. The data were collected based on the arrival pattern and the service pattern of customers. The methodology employed followed by the birth and death Markovian process. The results obtained showed that the arrival rate is 0.2219 and the service rate is 0.1524. However, the probability that the servers are idle is 0.1574 and the cost incurred from waiting is N656.76. Besides, any increment on the number of servers by the bank management will help reduce the time customers spend on queue and also reduce cost incurred from waiting. It was also suggested that the management of the concerned Bank should employ only capable servers as to reduce customers wait on service, that is when the cause of long time taken to serve one customer is not...
