The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pandemic that affected the overall mental health of the population. As seen in previous situations, there seemed to be an extreme impact of disasters on the mental health of pregnant women and new mothers; therefore, we investigated the relationship between COVID-19 and maternal mental health. The pregnant subjects were identified during the study period through convenience sampling. The study received Institutional Review Board approval and online surveys were sent to subjects via email. The questions were focused on feelings about being pregnant and the influence of the practices during the pandemic. Fifty-one (51) pregnant patients were identified. Our study found that 92.3% of the participants felt negatively, as the COVID-19 precautions did not permit their significant other to attend their routine prenatal visits with them. 64.7% felt that the visits were less personal, 100% felt that they had to take more precautions. Only 42% of t...

This paper presents a rapid evidence review into the clinical and psychological impacts of COVID-19 on perinatal women and their infants. Literature search revealed that there is very little formal evidence on the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant, labouring and postnatal women or their babies. The clinical evidence to date suggests that pregnant and childbearing women, and their babies are not at increased risk of either getting infected, or of having severe symptoms or consequences than the population as a whole. There is no evidence on the short- and longer-term psychological impacts of restrictive practices or social and personal constraints for childbearing women during COVID-19 in particular, or infection pandemics in general. The potential for adverse mental health consequences of the pandemic should be recognised as a critical public health concern, together with appropriate care and support to prevent and ameliorate any negative impacts.

Fear of COVID-19, especially in vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, created excessive concern leading to unexpected psycho-emotional consequences and a need to summarize the most recent knowledge about this topic. Therefore, we conducted a narrative review of the relevant literature, synthesizing data from available databases. According to the findings of this review, pregnant women during COVID-19 pandemic were more anxious and depressed mainly due to the fear of contacting the virus, restricting measures, and concerns about the health of their unborn children. The elevated stress levels in pregnant women due to the pandemic could represent risk factors for physical health complications. Thus, strategies including relaxation, mindfulness, acceptance, and positive attitude to COVID-19 should be promoted for pregnant women.

This paper will focus on three historical narratives by European filmmakers which grapple with the Holocaust when constructing a narrative about Germany's past and present. The motifs of lack, ashes, non-depiction, and fantasy or magical realism run through these narratives, suggesting that a way to hint at memory and evoke truth is not through pure depiction of facts but through narrative and an intentional engagement of non-reality. Furthermore, I will center ideas of space and geography and the unique usage of both concepts in each of the three films. Vergangenheitsbewältigung, a word meaning "struggle of overcoming the past," is what I will be focusing mainly on, with an analysis of each film also including how the built environment of the geographical setting or physical structures, for example the Höss's family home in The Zone of Interest (2023), the Berlin Wall in Wings of Desire (1987), or the concentration camp infrastructure in Nuit et brouillard (1956), contributes to the psychological topology of each film. I will also consider modern-day Berlin and its erections, memorials, and monuments, including how they are depicted in the films mentioned, and the Stolpersteine, or stumbling stones, an ongoing art project by German artist Gunter Demnig, as physical manifestations of a fraught history in a city with many material remnants of past atrocities which shape the nation's contemporary consciousness.
