On the book: Ostroumov S.A. Introduction to Biochemical Ecology. Moscow University Press, 1986. http://www.researchgate.net/profile/Sergei_Ostroumov/blog/4575_Biochemical_Ecology; Biochemical Ecology. Many natural products were described, especially secondary metabolites, that have biological effects on a broad range of organisms. Some of them have a commercial importance as crop protection agents [1], and as pharmaceuticals. There was a publication (a book) which formulated the principles and basic concepts of biochemical ecology [2]. The book analyzed, inter alia, the ecological roles of natural and man-made chemicals; some issues of chemical communication and regulation in natural populations and ecosystems, environmental toxicology and chemistry. Ecological functions of secondary metabolites of bacteria, fungi, algae, plants, invertebrates, vertebrates. The abstract of the book [2]: [book: Ostroumov S.A. Introduction to Biochemical Ecology. 1986. Moscow. Moscow University Press. 176 p. Figures, tables. Bibliogr.: pp. 168-174. [Analyzed: Ecological roles of natural and man-made chemicals. Inter alia, some problems of chemical communication and regulation in natural populations and ecosystems, environmental toxicology and chemistry and QSAR. Ecological functions of secondary metabolites of bacteria, fungi, algae, plants, invertebrates and vertebrates. There are no other books on biochemical ecology in the international literature that analyzes so broad diversity of data on metabolites of various taxons. Published reviews indicated that the book broke a fresh ground and extended the frontiers of ecology. The new concepts suggested: ecological chemomediators and ecological chemoregulators in ecosystems]. The book got a positive evaluation in several published reviews [3]. The book contributed to the conceptual framework and theoretical basis for advances in the areas with the key words, inter alia: pharmacology, pest management, new pesticides, including herbicides; allelopathy in terrestrial and aquatic environments; sustainable agriculture and forestry; biocontrol agents; phytochemicals, bioactive agents; natural pesticides; biopesticides; biologically active; terpenoids; biocidal; pyrethroids; insecticidal; antifungal; herbicidal; agents; algicidal; isoprenoids; alkaloid; toxicants; toxic; phytotoxins, pharmaceutical; allelopathic potential; bioassay; blue-green, green, alga; algae; cyanobacteria, pathogenic; agrochemical; biocide; mutagenicity; phytotoxic; ichthyotoxic, phytoplankton; secondary; metabolism; metabolite; integrated, weed, management, biological, testing, glycosides, growth inhibition, inhibitory, feeding, phenolic, chemical defense, antimicrobial, pathogen; infochemicals; chemical communication; This book was translated into Polish [4] and Bulgarian [5] languages. A relevant recent paper was published [6]. It covers the trends in research that include studies of the role of chemical substances in interorganismal interactions, in communication and regulation of supraorganismal systems. Another part of biochemical ecology is the studies of the fate and transformation of external chemical substances when they interact with the organisms. Both natural and man-made compounds are interesting for biochemical ecology. The basic concepts of biochemical ecology include the new concepts and terms. The author suggested using new terms, ecological chemomediators and ecological chemoregulators. Since recently they have already been included in the body of modern conceptions and are in use in modern ecological literature. Application of biochemical ecology to aquatic ecosystems creates the basis for development of biochemical hydrobiology. Also, some relevant materials for university education were published [7-9]. Currently, the book [2] is included in the lists of recommended literature in several universitites of at least 6 countries. Many new natural chemicals were discovered after those publications. Some novel bioactive natural products were found by many authors. A series of relevant publications was published, e.g., by Stephen Duke (USDA-ARS, USA). References: 1. L. Copping, S.O. Duke. As scientific direction, Ecological Chemistry has been successfully developing in Moldova over the past three decades. Its history began in 1985, when the First International School on Ecological Chemistry of the Environment was organized. More than 80 remarkable scholars from the major research centres of the USSR and 17 foreign countries were among the participants of the event. The main decision made during the event was to develop this scientific direction and the regular organizing of conferences and symposia dedicated to it.

The lines of research on biochemical ecology included studies of the role of chemical substances in interorganismal interactions, in communication and regulation of supraorganismal systems. Another part of biochemical ecology concerns studies of the fate and transformation of external chemical substances when they interact with the organisms. Both natural and man-made compounds are within the focus of biochemical ecology. The basic concepts of biochemical ecology include two concepts and terms that were suggested by the author, namely ‘ecological chemomediators’ and ‘ecological chemoregulators’. They were suggested by Dr. S.A. Ostroumov and since then, they have already been included accepted as part of modern ecological concepts and are used in modern ecological literature. Application of biochemical ecology to aquatic ecosystems creates the basis for development of biochemical hydrobiology. http://www.getcited.org/pub/103448435; The full text see at: http://www.scribd.com/doc/41634664; http://scipeople.com/users/2943391/; Translated into English from the original Russian edition: С. Oil well drilling is a highly complex process that leads to routine drilling operational problems. A drilling problem is any occurrence or condition that stands in the way of well objectives. It could involve anything from weather to transportation delays to blowouts. This paper concentrate on problems that occur as part of the drilling process itself and possible way to reduce such problems. A comprehensive, thoroughly researched well plan is our best defense against drilling problems. In order to minimise some of these problems, an extensive study was carried out on different drilling problems cases. An important problem in drilling is hole cleaning, in which a high number of observed parameters and other features are involved. This paper aimed to determine the basic problem associated with the drilling process of poor hole cleaning and create a simplified way based on drilling literature to optimize the drilling process acording to the total drilling costs for a set of given cond...
