Kate Middleton’s Friends Shed Light on When Kate Will Really Return to Royal Duties
Kate Middleton has been taking time away from royal duties for quite a while. The Princess of Wales’ team announced back in January that she would be undergoing abdominal surgery and would not be taking on any royal duties until at least after Easter. Then, on March 22, the princess released a video sharing the news that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
Kate has not been seen in public since, with the exception a few unconfirmed sightings here and there. Of course, people have been patiently waiting for the princess’ return but have also been giving her the privacy she requested. But after some confusion caused people to think she could return soon, those close to the princess have set the record straight.
Kate Middleton will not be returning to royal duties any time soon, sources say
Kate was last seen at a public-facing engagement at Christmas time, and since then, she has flown completely under the radar. But recently, there was some confusion regarding a report that was released, which the princess had reportedly helped with. According to Express, the report referred to how early childhood development could boost the British economy, and with Kate’s name attached to it, people assumed it was a bright sign that she would soon return to royal duties. However, those close to the princess say this is not the case.
Express reports that palace sources say the princess was “kept fully up to date throughout the process” while the report was being done, but that this “should not be seen as the Princess of Wales returning to work.” Kate has not yet been given the “green light” to return to work and will only resume public-facing duties once her doctors say it’s alright.
Kate Middleton might not be seen again until the fall
It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Kate doesn’t make another public appearance until the fall. It also remains unclear what type of cancer Kate has or what stage it’s in, but she is clearly planning to take as much time off as she needs. Daily Mail editor Richard Eden said that he has spoken to “friends” of Kate’s who say she might not make a royal return “until the autumn.”
For now, Kate’s husband, Prince William, has continued to take on royal duties and keep the family’s public appearances afloat. It remains unclear if Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will make an appearance at Trooping the Colour this year, which always takes place in June and often involves the children on the balcony. However, it’s highly unlikely that Kate will be present, so it’s tough to say whether William will bring the kids on the balcony without her.
