The Corn Islands are a hidden treasure located approximately 50 miles (80km) off the East coast of Nicaragua in the beautifully serene waters of the Caribbean Sea. Since the time of Captain Morgan Corn Islands has have been a well kept secret shared only with a lucky few. In today’s world, they remain a slice of unspoiled paradise, with a unique and pristine underwater world still waiting to be fully discovered. The people of Corn Island invite you to rediscover and explore our waters.
Once under the rule of the British, the Corn Islands are now part of the Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. There are two islands, Corn Island (also referred to as Great Corn Island or Big Corn Island) and Little Corn Island.
Corn Island is yet to be spoiled by major development and cruise ship-style tourism, and has much to offer the adventurous traveler in the way of sights, activities, and natural beauty. The people here speak primarily Creole-English, and Spanish. Everyone you come across is friendly, and are genuine in their welcoming and helpful manner. Corn Island is the more developed of the two islands, offering many of the creature comforts found at home (Wifi, A/C, hot water, vehicle transportation etc). Although Corn Island does have a few more amenities and luxuries, there is actually less of a foreign presence here than on Little Corn, and it is a great spot to really mingle with the locals and to get the true Nicaraguan island experience.
Corn Island Dive Center is lucky to be located on the larger of the two Corn Islands. Not only are we closer to the famous Blowing Rock, our island has many other benefits to consider when planning your trip, such as added amenities, a Hospital, a large baseball stadium to catch the local teams in action, and even a Culture House to learn a little about our islands history and people. With our picturesque sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and unique and lively culture, Corn Island is a must see when visiting Nicaragua!
