The 4th of July is just around the corner so I thought it would be fun to make a patriotic pillow to decorate my living room. I had a red, white, and blue charm pack, Old Glory, that I ordered a couple of months ago from Missouri Star Quilt Co. with this project in mind when I got it.

I have been meaning to make a share this project for quite a while but life has been busy and I just haven't been able to get as much posted as I would like. As a result this may look like kind of a weird project to be sharing on Valentine's Day, because it looks like a Valentine's project so it is a little late to be sharing. However, although I made mine with Valentine fabric it isn't really a holiday specific project and you could make it in any color scheme, for any holiday, to match your kitchen or whatever room you are using it in, or just using a charm pack that you like the colors of.

With less than 2 weeks to Christmas I have been trying to come up with some quick projects that could be used as Christmas gifts, and that is how today's post came to be. These heart shaped potholders are quick to make, and also would make a good gift for any bakers in your life.

Normally I am not super into Halloween, especially decorations. I don't love gory or scary stuff, so Halloween was never my favorite holiday. At least beyond dressing up kids to go trick or treating. But for some reason this year I have been more into Halloween decor. Maybe it is because the time I spent making all my little Halloween amigurumi but me in more of a Halloween mood. Whatever the reason, I have been enjoying making some Halloween projects lately.

Lately I have been working on some sewing projects and I have discovered a love of precuts. I never used to use them, I think it felt like I was getting so little fabric when it was cut into 5" squares, or 10" squares, or strips, or whatever. But it sure is convenient to have all of that cutting done for you, and you get a variety of coordinating fabrics since it is typically a whole line. It is such a great way to get the fabric you need for a project like this one made entirely of charm squares (plus the binding fabric).

Scrappy Four Patch Coasters

Do you have a box or bin full of fabric scraps leftover for other projects? I know I do, and this year I have been really trying to focus on using up a lot of what I already have on hand rather than always getting new supplies for my projects.

Today is Day 5 of Read Across America Week, and my week of book inspired crafts. There is only one more left after today. Each day I have shared a book that I loved but for the last 2 days I have chosen books that are favorites of others in my family. Today's book is a book that has special meaning to me because it is a favorite of my oldest daughter, the book is a graphic novel called El Deafo.

This is Day 2 of my week of book inspired crafts. Yesterday I started with a picture book I like when I was really little, so for today I am moving up to a few year later to a book, or rather a series, that was one of my favorites when I was elementary school age. The book/series I have chosen for today is the Little House on the Prairie series.

8 Baby Gifts to Sew

When someone I know has a new baby I love making a baby gift to give them. I often like to pair my handmade gift with something super practical, like diapers, but I love adding something handmade by me.

Do you have a stack of outgrown or worn out jeans? I have a few garbage bags full of outgrown clothes sitting in my laundry room waiting to take to a thrift store, but they have been closed and not accepting donations for the last few months. Although if I am being honest it usually takes me a few months to get donations out of my house even when everything is open.

Fabric Face Masks

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I know there have been tons of tutorials recently for making fabric face masks and I debated whether or not I would post about it, but since the CDC recommended that we all wear DIY face masks when we go places like the grocery store I made a few and thought I would share a few tips that help the mask making process go smoother for me.

Easy DIY Travel Pillow

I know I have been sharing lots of Disney posts lately, but I have a couple more to share. Although this one is less "Disney" and more just a travel project. We just got back from our family trip to Disneyland and we drove so we were in the car for a long time. Since we were spending so much time in the car I wanted everyone to bring stuff to be comfortable, and hopefully sleep a little, but we also won't have space for a lot of big stuff.

Fat Quarter Doll Quilt

Today I am participating a year long sew along with 11 other bloggers. This is actually my second project as part of this sew along, my first was a simple scrunchies tutorial that I shared earlier this year. You can find all of the details for the sew along on Underground Crafter. Basically every other week one of us will be sharing a small sewing project, a "little gift" idea. It will be something that takes 1-4 fat quarters, or less than 1 yard of fabric to make. They will all work as stocking stuffers, or for any other time you need a small gift. The idea is that by the end of the year you will have lots of little gift ideas perfect for Christmas stockings, or just building up a stash of gifts.

Two Color Zipper Pouch

Today I am excited to be participating in the Christmas in July Make Along with Underground Crafter. 29 bloggers are coming together to bring you a month full of crochet, knitting, and sewing pattern to help kickstart your handmade holidays. Each week will have a theme for the gift patterns and ideas.

Making a Quilt with the Cricut Maker

I used to really enjoy making quilts, and it is one of those things that I just haven't done for a long time. Not that I don't still enjoy it, it has just been a while since I made a quilt. Probably my least favorite part of making a quilt is cutting out the pieces. Either that or binding. I love piecing the quilt though, seeing all of the small squares, triangles, and rectangles coming together to create a beautiful design.
