Thomas Harold "Tom" Wilson, popularly known as "Tug" Wilson (23 November 1917 in Lewisham – 1959) was an English professional footballer. He played for Gillingham between 1936 and 1949.

Biography

Thomas Daniel Wilson was born in 1935 at Shincliffe Station in County Durham, England. He left school at age 16 to work as a library assistant in Durham County Library. Following National Service in the Royal Air Force he returned to Durham County Library and took the examinations of the Library Association to qualify as a professional librarian. He then moved to being head of a small academic library - head by default, because he was the only librarian. He then worked as a corporate librarian for the Nuclear Research Centre of C. A. Parsons, at which time he became interested in the use of new technology in information science, but was unable to persuade the computer manager that computer indexing of information was feasible. After completing his Fellowship of the Library Association he began his academic career in 1961. He subsequently obtained a BSc degree in economics and sociology, and a doctorate in organization theory. He is now retired, but still holds several academic positions, including Professor Emeritus at the Department of Information Studies, University of Sheffield, Visiting Professor at Leeds University Business School, Visiting Professor at the University of Boras, Sweden, and Professor Catedratico Convidado in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Oporto. Dr. Wilson received an honorary doctorate from Gothenburg University in 2005 and a second honorary doctorate from the University of Murcia, Spain, in 2010.

Thomas "Tom" Wilson (16 April 1896 — 2 February 1948) was a footballer who was a member of the Huddersfield Town team that won the Football League three times in the 1920s.

Playing career

Born in Seaham, County Durham, Wilson started his professional career with Sunderland in 1914, before his career was interrupted by World War I. During the war he turned out for the Seaham Colliery side, before joining Huddersfield in 1919.

Over the next 12 seasons, he was a virtual ever-present with Huddersfield, helping them to the Football League championship in 1923-24, 1924-25, and 1925-26, as well as victory in the FA Cup in 1922. In his time at Huddersfield, they also reached the FA Cup finals in 1920, 1928 and 1930. He was Huddersfield’s captain throughout most of this period, before handing over to Clem Stephenson, later to be the club’s manager. Thomas Wilson was known as the "Gentleman of football" also titled as "The Dauntless Tommy Wilson" In the FA Cup Final 1930 vs Arsenal. Thomas Wilson also had a waxwork figure of himself created for that final and was displayed in Madame Tussauds.

True is the debut extended play (EP) by American recording artist Solange Knowles, first released on November 27, 2012 digitally through Terrible Records. Following the release of her second studio album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (2008), Knowles announced that she had parted ways with Interscope Geffen A&M after releasing just one album on the label, and further revealed that she had chosen to go an independent route, eventually signing with Terrible Records. In 2009 Knowles began the recording of a studio album, during which she suffered a "breakdown" due to the amount of time and emotion she was putting into the recording process

A neo soul album, True contains an eclectic sound that takes influence from PBR&B, new wave music, dance, 1980s pop, and electronica, whilst the extended play's production is characterized as containing '80s references, keyboards and African percussion. The recording process took three years and was handled by Knowles and producer Dev Hynes. Together the pair produced, wrote and composed all of the songs, a decision Knowles made due to their chemistry, friendship and work relationship.
