Pressure & Time is the second studio album by Long Beach-based blues rock outfit Rival Sons. It was released on June 20, 2011 in the UK and was released in the US on June 28, 2011 through UK independent label Earache Records. The cover artwork was designed by Storm Thorgerson, who has worked for Led Zeppelin, 10cc and Pink Floyd before. A music video has been released for title track "Pressure & Time", which features the band performing in different backgrounds. The title track was also used as the theme song of the 2013 action-adventure video game Ride to Hell: Retribution. The track Get Mine was featured in a Jeremiah Weed premium malt beverage television advertising campaign showing an arm wrestling competition.

Personnel

Formed in September 1996, mod-punk-noise unit The Pressure played their first show in San Diego. During their existence the trio lived crammed together in a tiny studio apartment in Costa Mesa, California, with their cat. The band played live several times on college radio, as well as television, where they not only hosted the alternative rock program Are-Oh-Vee twice, but would appear on The Gong Show. The energy of their live shows guaranteed almost continual coverage in the Orange County Weekly, which voted them one of the top unsigned bands in October 1997. In April 1998, a cover story asked, "Are The Pressure OC's favorite band?".

Their single, I Wanna Call Someone sold out of Orange County record stores the day it was released, and would wind up selling out completely in October 1998 after a deluge of European orders. Early in 1999 the band began working on their debut album with Alex Newport in San Francisco, a place where they had all originally lived. An appearance on the Vans Warped Tour 1999 that July, with Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, NOFX and Pennywise in San Bernardino wound up being their last. The day their debut album Things Move Fast was released, drummer Jason Thornberry was found beaten nearly to death on the streets of Long Beach, and would remain in hospital for several months. "The Pressure" is a song by American recording artist Jhene Aiko, taken from her debut studio album, Souled Out (2014). The song premiered on Vogue magazine's website and was released for digital download on July 17, 2014, as the second single from the album through ARTium Recordings and Def Jam Recordings. The song was written by Aiko, while production was handled by longtime collabarotors Mac Robinson and Brian Warfield under their production name Fisticuffs. Backed by a guitar-tinged, hip-hop production containing synths, metallic slaps and a shaky beat "The Pressure" is a PBR&B song that thematically revolves around Aiko's stress of finishing her debut album.

Upon release The Pressure was met with generally positive reviews from music critics; who commended the songs lyrical content, Aiko's vocals and the atmospheric production. Commercially the song did not fare well, only making an appearance on the US Hot R&B Songs chart. The songs accompanying video was released on September 2, 2014 and was directed by rapper Childish Gambino and Calmatic, during the video it depicts the challenges of being in a relationship and shows various scenes including Aiko drinking beer and eating pizza with her friends, writing songs and playing with her child, before changing to darker themes including friends fighting and lovers leaving. To further promote the song Aiko performed at the Streamy Awards 2014.
