William Emanuel "Billy" Cobham (born May 16, 1944) is a Panamanian American jazz drummer, composer and bandleader, who permanently relocated to Switzerland during the late 1970s.
Coming to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with trumpeter Miles Davis and then with Mahavishnu Orchestra, and on countless CTI releases. According to AllMusic's reviewer, Cobham is "generally acclaimed as fusion's greatest drummer". He has an influential style that combines explosive power and exacting precision. He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1987.
Born in Panama, Cobham moved with his family to New York City during his early childhood. A drummer from his youth, Cobham attended New York's High School of Music and Art, graduating in 1962.
He played in a U.S. Army Band from 1965 to 1968. Following his discharge, Cobham joined an ensemble led by pianist Horace Silver for about a year, also playing or recording with saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, organist Shirley Scott, and guitarist George Benson.
The Glass Menagerie is a four-character memory play by Tennessee Williams that premiered in 1944 and catapulted Williams from obscurity to fame. The play has strong autobiographical elements, featuring characters based on Williams himself, his histrionic mother, and his mentally fragile sister Rose. In writing the play, Williams drew on an earlier short story, as well as a screenplay he had written under the title of The Gentleman Caller.
The play premiered in Chicago in 1944. After a shaky start it was championed by Chicago critics Ashton Stevens and Claudia Cassidy, whose enthusiasm helped build audiences so the producers could move the play to Broadway where it won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award in 1945. The Glass Menagerie was Williams's first successful play; he went on to become one of America's most highly regarded playwrights.
"Yes, I have tricks in my pocket, I have things up my sleeve. But I am the opposite of a stage magician. He gives you illusion that has the appearance of truth. I give you truth in the pleasant disguise of illusion."
Wake up tired
Monday mornings suck
It's way too early to catch a bus
Why conform without a fuss?
Daddy, daddy no!
I don't wanna go to school!
I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare
Meet Juliet or Benvolio
Feel for once what it's like to rebell now
I wanna break out lets go
Teachers treat us all like clones
"Sit up straight, take off your headphones"
I dont blame them
They get paid
Money, money whoo!
Lotsa money, money whoo!
I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare
Meet Juliet or Benvolio
Feel for once what it's like to rebell now
I wanna break out lets go
Get out, get out, get out, get out whoo!
Get out, get out, get out, get out whoo!
To skip or not to skip, that is the question
Get out, get out, get out, get out whoo!
Get out, get out, get out, get out
Get out, get out, get out, get out
Get out, get out, get out, get out
I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare
Meet Juliet or Benvolio
Feel for once what it's like to rebell now
I wanna break out lets go
I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare
Meet Juliet or Benvolio
Feel for once what it's like to rebell now
I wanna break out lets go
I don't need to read Billy Shakespeare
Meet Juliet or Benvolio
Feel for once what it's like to rebell now
I wanna break out lets go
Get out, get out, get out, get out whoo!
Get out, get out
