David Andrew Stieb (/ˈstiːb/; born July 22, 1957) is a former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. A seven-time All-Star, he also won The Sporting News' Pitcher of the Year Award in 1982. Stieb won 140 games in the 1980s, the second-highest total by a pitcher in that decade, behind only Jack Morris. Dave Stieb was inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
Born in Santa Ana, California, Stieb played varsity baseball at Southern Illinois University as an outfielder. Scouted by Bobby Mattick and Al LaMacchia of the Blue Jays as an outfield prospect in a varsity game, Stieb's performance failed to impress until he was pressed into service as a relief pitcher. His pitching surprised and convinced the Blue Jays to draft him.

Ronnie's arrived with his Radio
He carries it everywhere he goes,
And talk about knowing your airwaves
...Ronnie'll name a few
Nicholas came with his cockatoo... too,
Which is really a pigeon but his heart would stop tickin'
if he ever knew.
'Cos everybody needs somebody (sometime)
I'm still needing you
CHORUS
I've been spun and spin-dried
but still the tears fall from my eyes.
I've been spun but I'm cry-dyed
do me a favour and wring me.
I've been spun and spin-dried
but still the tears fall from my eyes.
I've been spun but I'm cry-dyed
do me a favour and wring me... sometime
Little Linda's got a way with men
And so far she's got away with about nine or ten
'Cos everybody needs somebody (sometime)
I'm still needing you
CHORUS
I've been spun and spin-dried
but still the tears fall from my eyes.
I've been spun but I'm cry-dyed
do me a favour and wring me.
I've been spun and spin-dried
but still the tears fall from my eyes.
I've been spun but I'm cry-dyed
