The Rapido is a short river (c.40 km) which flows in the Italian province of Frosinone. The river is known for the Battle of Rapido River, despite it actually occurred on the Gari River.

Its source is close to border between Lazio and Molise on the slopes of the Mainarde mountains. The river bathes the district of Sant'Elia Fiumerapido after which it becomes known as the Gari.

Fed by numerous karstic springs, the river has a relatively high and reliable discharge: 25 m³/s on average and never dropping below 10 m³/s.

Rapido was the name of the Canadian National Railway's express passenger train service on the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor. The service was introduced on October 31, 1965, on the Montreal-Toronto route. In 1966, service was extended to the Montreal-Quebec City route and later, to other city pairs, including Toronto-Windsor/Sarnia and Toronto-Ottawa.

In the 1980s, in addition to being branded as Rapido, each express train was also given a name related to the route's particular geographical or historical context. Some names included Frontenac (after the Château Frontenac in Quebec City), Rideau (after the Rideau Canal in Ottawa) and Ville-Marie (the original name of Montreal).

For a period in the 1960s and 1970s, a "Bistro" car was part of the Rapido set. Piano-based entertainment and alcoholic beverages were offered in an specially outfitted car lit with red bulbs to create a party atmosphere on the trip between Toronto, Kingston, and Montreal.

The brand was used on advertising material and timetables until the 1990s, surviving for many years the reorganization of the train schedules under the new Via Rail brand. Today, Via Rail no longer uses the Rapido brand and route maps simply refer to this section as the Corridor. Additionally, the dedicated train names were dropped and trains are currently identified by number only, contrary to the rest of the route system.

Rapido is a fictional character in the Transformers series. His is the commander of the Autobot Axelerators.

Rapido (called Sirius in Italy) is one of the most brilliant Autobots who ever lived. Serving as platoon leader, Rapido took command of the Autobot army following the departure of Optimus Prime some four million years ago. He is an unparalleled mastermind when it comes to warfare strategy, executing them with a skilled methodology that few can match. Sophisticated ideas come easily to him; his plans are typically so mind-bogglingly complex that only he fully understands them. He believes in logic and reasoning, refusing to allow the irrational to cloud his thinking. His archive of knowledge and uncanny knack for anticipating every possible detail has won him the reverence of many of his comrades, making him one of the most respected Autobot commanders in history. He directly leads the Autobot Axelerators team, Scram, Turbofire and Windbreaker, on missions.

Aishah and The Fan Club, better known as The Fan Club or just Fan Club, were a New Zealand-based singing group in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group released their first album Sensation in 1988, which spawned three top-20 singles in the New Zealand and Malaysian charts, namely "Sensation", "Paradise" and "Call Me".

Their second album, titled Respect the Beat, also produced three hit singles, including "I Feel Love" and "I Never Gave Up on You", and the band's only single to make the US Billboard Hot 100 Charts - "Don't Let Me Fall Alone". The remixes for this song were among the most played dance tunes in clubs at the time.

The group was formed while Wan Aishah binti Wan Ariffin was in New Zealand studying in the late 1980s. She was spotted by the other members of the group, and asked to join the band. Besides Aishah who sang lead vocals, the other members included Paul Moss on guitar and programming, Dave Larsen on drums, Glenn Peters on bass, Malcolm Smith on keyboards, and Hazri Yutim on second keyboard/synthesiser. Malcolm and Paul were also the main songwriters for the group.

Sensation was an exhibition of the collection of contemporary art owned by Charles Saatchi, including many works by Young British Artists, (YBAs), which first took place 18 September – 28 December 1997 at the Royal Academy of Art in London and later toured to Berlin and New York. A proposed showing at the National Gallery of Australia was cancelled when the gallery's director decided the exhibition was "too close to the market."

The show generated controversy in London and New York due to the inclusion of images of Myra Hindley and the Virgin Mary. It was criticised by New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani and others for attempting to boost the value of the work by showing it in institutions and public museums.

Works

The artworks in Sensation were from the collection of Charles Saatchi, a leading collector, advertising mogul and publiciser of contemporary art. Norman Rosenthal, the Royal Academy of Arts exhibitions secretary, helped to stage the 110 works by 42 different artists. Many of the pieces had already become famous, or notorious, with the British public (for example, Damien Hirst's shark suspended in formaldehyde titled The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, Tracey Emin's tent titled Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963–1995), Marc Quinn's self-portrait (a frozen head made from pints of his own blood) and Sarah Lucas's explicitly sexual images and sculptures. Others had already achieved prominence in other ways, such as a successful advertising campaign using an idea from Gillian Wearing's photographs. Sensation was the first time that a wide audience had had the chance to see these works en masse. The Royal Academy posted this disclaimer to visitors on entry:
