Supersonic speed is a rate of travel of an object that exceeds the speed of sound (Mach 1). For objects traveling in dry air of a temperature of 20 °C (68 °F) at sea level, this speed is approximately 343.2 m/s, 1,125 ft/s, 768 mph, 667 knots, or 1,235 km/h. Speeds greater than five times the speed of sound (Mach 5) are often referred to as hypersonic. Flights during which only some parts of the air surrounding an object, such as the ends of rotor blades, reach supersonic speeds are called transonic. This occurs typically somewhere between Mach 0.8 and Mach 1.23.
Sounds are traveling vibrations in the form of pressure waves in an elastic medium. In gases, sound travels longitudinally at different speeds, mostly depending on the molecular mass and temperature of the gas, and pressure has little effect. Since air temperature and composition varies significantly with altitude, Mach numbers for aircraft may change despite a constant travel speed. In water at room temperature supersonic speed can be considered as any speed greater than 1,440 m/s (4,724 ft/s). In solids, sound waves can be polarized longitudinally or transversely and have even higher velocities.
"Supersonic" is the debut single by the English rock band Oasis, written by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. The song appears on their debut album Definitely Maybe, released in August 1994.
The song was released on 11 April 1994 and peaked at number 31 on the UK Singles Chart, Oasis's lowest-peaking single. However, over time it has amassed sales of over 215,000, making it their 13th biggest selling single ever in the UK, even outselling their 2002 number one "The Hindu Times", and both of their 2005 number ones, "Lyla" and "The Importance of Being Idle".
"Supersonic" was also the band's first single to chart in the United States, where it peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart on 10 December 1994. The song was performed by the band on their debut national TV performance on Channel 4's The Word. It remains a favourite song of both the band and their fans (on the Definitely Maybe DVD, Noel cites it as his favourite Oasis song). The single went silver in the UK in 2006.
"STARS" is a song by Superfly and Tortoise Matsumoto. The first new single from Superfly in nearly a year and her first collaboration since "I Spy I Spy" with JET.
Shiho Ochi of Superfly stated at one point that she always wanted to work with Tortoise Matsumoto of Ulfuls, and when Matsumoto was given the offer to write the theme song for Fuji Television's coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics, he contacted Ochi to perform a duet with him. The song's theme is "universal love" to match with the global community of the Olympic Games.
In the Oricon's weekly ranking, "STARS" debuted at 15, and on the Japan Hot 100, it peaked at the number 5 spot.
All songs written and composed by Tortoise Matsumoto, arranged by Koichi Tsutaya.
"Stars" is the second single from Hum's 1995 album You'd Prefer an Astronaut. The single was modestly successful in the United States, peaking at number eleven on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks, and at number twenty-eight on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. The single was vital in helping You'd Prefer an Astronaut sell over 250,000 copies. In addition, the song has digitally sold 26,000 copies, which Billboard estimates is largely due to a Cadillac commercial that used the song. In the Beavis and Butt-head episode, "The Future of Beavis and Butt-head", the duo watch the video and mistake it as being already over, even though it was just beginning.
A music video was released in 1995 that featured the band performing the song on a darkened stage.
The following songs are on the CD single:
American Metalcore band Bleeding Through covered the song for the 2006 compilation album Punk Goes 90's.

The cover was painting by Yayoi Kusama who also participates on the last track, "Love Forever", saying a little poem.
Candle light, I'm very tired
Dreamin' of the girl I know
Her angel eyes, the pretty smile
Haunts me everywhere I go
My seal of pride has broken
I'm really shy, I don't really know her
Hopin' I'd fall on her
Lucky stars and endless love
Lucky stars won't get me far
I pace away to the unknown
It's endless longing for the gold
I slip the note into her coat
Minutes are the hours
The hours seem like days out of nowhere
I'm getting by without her
I'm really close of getting there, but
She wrote me a letter
And told me to forget her
How could I forget you
How could I never answer
Can't stop me dreamer
I'll flow around like feather
Softly crash and breath again
I'm movin' on, really close to getting there
I sleep a while, wake to find
An empty house no message from
This girl of mine, not really mine
Just someone that I used to know
My seal of pride was broken
Still very shy, I don't really know her
Hopin' I'd fall on her
Lucky stars and endless love
I still got your letter
You told me to forget then
But how could I forget you
How could I never answer
Can't stop me the dreamer
I'll flow around like a feather
Softly crash and breathe again
