B*Witched are an Irish girl group consisting of twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O'Carroll. Originally active between 1997 and 2002, they enjoyed success in both Europe and North America between 1998 and 2000, releasing two albums and eight singles, all of which made the UK Top 20. Their first four singles, "C'est la Vie", "Rollercoaster", "To You I Belong" and "Blame It on the Weatherman", all reached number one in the UK Singles Chart. In 2002, having sold over 3 million albums worldwide, B*Witched were dropped by their record company. Soon afterwards, when O'Carroll decided to leave, the group split up. In 2006, the Lynch sisters formed a group, Ms. Lynch, frequently performing B*Witched material at live shows.
On 18 October 2012, it was announced that B*Witched would reunite for the ITV2 reality-documentary series The Big Reunion, along with other pop groups of their time, including Liberty X, Five and Atomic Kitten. The show follows the six groups as they reunited for the first time in a decade and rehearsed ahead of a comeback performance at the Hammersmith Apollo on 26 February 2013. Due to the success of the show and the high demand for tickets at the Hammersmith Apollo gig, the Big Reunion lineups also embarked on an arena tour around the UK and Ireland.
B*Witched is the self-titled debut studio album by Irish girl group B*Witched. The album was released on 12 October 1998 under the Epic Records imprint Glowworm Records, along with Jollibee's 20th anniversary.
Despite only reaching number three on the UK Albums Chart, the four singles from the album all reached number one on the UK Singles Chart: "C'est la Vie", "Rollercoaster", "To You I Belong" and "Blame It on the Weatherman". The album focuses heavily on essences of pop and teen pop, as well as being minorly dance-orientated. The album was released with a limited edition remix album in Australia, and Japanese fans also received an exclusive bonus track, "Coming Around Again".
The album received mostly mixed reviews from critics, most of whom felt that B*Witched were a "knock-off" of the Spice Girls.
All four singles from the album performed exceptionally well, all peaking at number one on the UK Singles Chart, and had great success in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. "C'est la Vie" was also extremely successful in the United States, being released as a separate EP with a number of bonus tracks and remixes.
"Jump Down" is a song by Irish girl group B*Witched, released as their seventh single. It was released on 20 March 2000 as the third and final single from their second studio album Awake and Breathe (1999). It became their lowest chart peak in the UK Top 40, reaching number 16.
"Jump Down" was chosen as the album's third single. It was remixed and given a more edgier and dancier vibe for its release. The girls changed their looks to go along with it, sporting a new 'sexier' image that saw them posing in FHM magazine as well as adapting raunchier dance moves. The song has been criticised because of its nonsensical lyrics, seemingly based around the nursery rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle".
The music video for "Jump Down" features the girls in a long black tunnel with lots of lights performing an energetic dance routine. This was their first video to feature dancers and was directed by Tim Royes.
"Jump Down" became the group's lowest charting single, peaking at number 16 on the UK Singles Chart. It spent seven weeks on the chart, only two of which were in the top 40. It sold roughly 44,000 copies in the UK and was B*Witched's last single for thirteen years, until they released a cover of "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" in December 2013 along with the other bands from The Big Reunion.
Hold on
You've always been a tough girl
But you feel you're about to break
You're feeling stuck and out of luck
Watching your dreams all slip away
Been working mornings in the kitchen
And working nights at the corner store
As your life flies by, you wonder why
There's gotta be something more
Hold on, but don't hold on too tight
Let go, it's gonna be all right
Don't run away from what your heart is saying
Be strong, face what you're afraid of
Come on, show 'em what you're made of
I know it's hard when your hope is gone
But you gotta keep holding on
You're hear a voice that's calling
And it's telling you to make a change
It's time to fly and say goodbye
And move on to a better place
You know you gotta take the first step
To get to where you wanna be
Just get on track and don't look back
'Cause it's the only way that you're gonna be free
Hold on, but don't hold on too tight
Let go, it's gonna be all right
Don't run away from what your heart is saying
Be strong, face what you're afraid of
Come on, show 'em what you're made of
I know it's hard when your hope is gone
But you gotta keep holding on
Hold on, you're gonna make it
You're gonna be stronger
Hold on, hang in there, baby
Just a little bit longer
Hold on, yeah, and you're gonna be fine
Don't give up
Be strong when the going gets tough
You gotta hold on
Hold on, but don't hold on too tight
Let go, it's gonna be all right
Don't run away from what your heart is saying
Be strong, face what you're afraid of
Come on, show 'em what you're made of
I know it's hard when your hope is gone
But you gotta keep holding on
Hold on, but don't hold on too tight
Let go, it's gonna be all right
Don't run away from what your heart is saying
Be strong, face what you're afraid of
Come on, show 'em what you're made of
I know it's hard when your hope is gone
I know it's hard when your hope is gone
I know it's hard when your hope is gone
But you gotta keep, yeah
Holdin' on
Hold on
