"Simple Man", is a song written and recorded by the Charlie Daniels Band. It was released in August 1989 as the lead single from their album of the same name.

The song is the lament of a self-proclaimed honest man, who expresses frustration at barely getting by despite making an honest living, while dishonest politicians and criminals are allowed to get away with anything. Expressing frustration at a judicial system that he believes is too lenient with drug dealers, rapists and child abusers, he suggests more severe forms of justice, such as hanging ("I'd take a big tall tree and a short piece of rope/I'd hang 'em up high and let 'em swing 'til the sun goes down") and allowing swamp animals such as alligators to eat convicted criminals ("Just take them rascals out in the swamp/Put 'em on their knees and tie 'em to a stump/Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest"). The man blames a society that has forsaken God and as a result has become a lawless society, then reaffirms his support of the death penalty for the most severe crimes ("The Good Book says it so I know it's the truth/An eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth").

Passion is the first album by the Canadian singer Kreesha Turner. It was released on August 12, 2008, in Canada and was released in early 2009 in the United States.Passion had been available for advanced streaming on MuchMusic.com. a week earlier.Passion was released in the US in early 2009.

In early August, 2008, the album was leaked onto MTV Canada's The Leak on its official website.

Initially, on the back of the album, track 14 was listed as the "Bounce With Me (Rhythm Mix)" but this was an error and the track is actually the "Don't Call Me Baby (Rhythm Mix)". This error on the back cover was corrected on later pressings of the album.

Although Turner originally signed in the US to Virgin Records, a Capitol Music Group label, her first American release will instead be shifted to the Capitol Records imprint, also within the Capitol Music Group umbrella. This will keep a consistency with her Canadian releases under EMI Music Canada which utilize the Capitol Records imprint and are copyrighted by Capitol Records, LLC.

Typically a leaf is a thin, dorsiventrally flattened organ, borne above ground and specialized for photosynthesis. Most leaves have distinctive upper (adaxial) and lower (abaxial) surfaces that differ in colour, hairiness, the number of stomata (pores that intake and output gases) and other features. In most plant species, leaves are broad and flat. Such species are referred to as broad-leaved plants. Many gymnosperm species have thin needle-like leaves that can be advantageous in cold climates frequented by snow and frost. Leaves can also have other shapes and forms such as the scales in certain species of conifers. Some leaves are not above ground (such as bulb scales). Succulent plants often have thick juicy leaves, but some leaves are without major photosynthetic function and may be dead at maturity, as in some cataphylls, and spines). Furthermore, several kinds of leaf-like structures found in vascular plants are not totally homologous with them. Examples include flattened plant stems (called phylloclades and cladodes), and phyllodes (flattened leaf stems), both of which differ from leaves in their structure and origin. Many structures of non-vascular plants, and even of some lichens, which are not plants at all (in the sense of being members of the kingdom Plantae), look and function much like leaves. The primary site of photosynthesis in most leaves (palisade mesophyll) almost always occurs on the upper side of the blade or lamina of the leaf but in some species, including the mature foliage of Eucalyptus palisade occurs on both sides and the leaves are said to be isobilateral.

Vaux was a six-piece alternative rock band from Denver, Colorado.

History

Vaux was formed in 1997 in Denver, Colorado, under the original name Eiffel. They released a 7" single themselves, To Write A Symphony, in 1998. Indie label Undecided Records signed the band after they had toured the East Coast extensively for two years, and the band's debut album Audiblenarcotic was released in 2000. The album was a minor success on college radio, and the band earned a spot on the 2001 Warped Tour. In July 2002, for legal reasons, the band had to change its name, deciding on Vaux.

In 2002, Vaux moved to Orange County independent label Volcom Entertainment and released the EP On Life; Living, and the following year, second full-length There Must Be Some Way to Stop Them. The album received widespread critical acclaim, prompting Alternative Press magazine to include Vaux in their 100 Bands to Watch feature. During this time, the band embarked upon successful tours supporting Thrice, My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria and The Used.

In J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth books, such as The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the terms Man and Men refer to humankind – in contrast to Elves, Dwarves, Orcs and other humanoid races – and does not denote gender.

The Elves call the race of Men Atani in Quenya, literally meaning "Second People" (the Elves being the First), but also Hildor (Followers), Apanónar (After-born), and Fírimar or Firyar (Mortals). Less charitably they were called Engwar (The Sickly), owing to their susceptibility to disease and old age, and their generally unlovely appearance in the Elves' eyes. The name Atani becomes Edain in Sindarin, but this term is later applied only to those tribes of Men who are friendly to the Elves. Other names appear in Sindarin as Aphadrim, Eboennin, and Firebrim or Firiath.

Origins

The race of Men is the second race of beings created by the One God, Ilúvatar. Because they awoke at the start of the Years of the Sun, while the Elves awoke at the start of the First Age during the Years of the Trees, they are called the Afterborn by the Elves.

Manfred Gnädinger (Dresden 1940 – Camelle, 28 December 2002) a.k.a. Man or O Alemán was a German hermit and sculptor who lived in the village of Camelle, on the Costa da Morte, in Galicia (Spain). He lived a very simple and natural life, building sculptures on the beach where he lived and tending to his small garden. In November 2002, when the oil spill of the Prestige destroyed his sculptures and the ecosystem of the area he lived in, it is thought that Man let himself die of melancholy and sadness, thus becoming a symbol of the destruction unleashed by the oil spill.

Hermit and sculptor

Man arrived in the small village of Camelle in 1962, from Boehringen in the south of Germany. His whereabouts before this period are unknown, although he was described as having been well-dressed and educated when he arrived. It is said that he went mad after falling in love with the teacher of the village and being refused. A few years later, after becoming sensitized to ecological issues, he built himself a small hut on the beach of the village, next to the Atlantic Ocean, and spent the next forty years in this place, where he quickly became a curiosity of the village. Inhabitants referred to him in Galician as O Alemán (the German), then just "Man", a name he eagerly accepted for its symbolism. Tall, with a long beard, and dressed only with a loincloth in any weather, he would swim out in the Ocean, even after he was fifty years old. He had no electricity or running water in his hut, and was a strict vegetarian, eating only from the small organic garden he had created.
