Colours is a compilation album from Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan. It was released in the United States (Del Rack DRZ 921) in 1991.
In the early 1990s, audio engineer Steve Hoffman digitally remixed and remastered ten songs from the original master tapes of Donovan's 1965 Pye Records recordings. The songs were released as a compilation album entitled Colours, but bore no resemblance to the previous albums of the same title.
All tracks by Donovan Leitch, except where noted.
Colours is an album by the drum and bass artist Adam F, released in 1997 by Positiva.
Colours is the third album released by Finnish thrash metal band Stone, and was released in 1990. It was remastered and re-issued by Megamania in 2003. The Japanese version had a redder pigment used on the album cover. An EP was released for the album track "Empty Suit".
A four-track EP was released for "Empty Suit" in 1990. The A-side contained 2 tracks from Colours, "Empty Suit" and "Friends", while the B-side contained two live tracks. The live performances on side B were taken from a show in Helsinki on 15 March 1990. This show was guitarist Jiri Jalkanen's final show with Stone before his departure from the band.
"Lie" is the first single by Black Light Burns from their debut album Cruel Melody. It was released to radio on March 20.
Lie was the first full Black Light Burns song Wes Borland had shown to the public. Previously, various samples were available on the band's MySpace page, but on March 29, 2007, Borland put up the full version of Lie, after responding to some controversial remarks from the other members of Limp Bizkit. This led to many fans believing the lyrics in the song were meant to discredit his former bandmates, and the time he spent in the band. The song contained lines such as "I'm living a lie, and it's not the best thing for me" and "I follow these pigs around, but I never get used to it".
The song notably features an unusual and flashy harmony guitar solo at the end, something missing from Borland's previous works. As a whole, the song is an unusual blend of extremely dark and vicious guitar driven music augmented by the programmed percussion of Charlie Clouser alongside the live drums of Josh Freese. The band played this song on Last Call with Carson Daly in promotion of the album.
In music performance and notation, legato [leˈɡaːto] (Italian for "tied together"; French lié; German gebunden) indicates that musical notes are played or sung smoothly and connected. That is, the player makes a transition from note to note with no intervening silence. Legato technique is required for slurred performance, but unlike slurring (as that term is interpreted for some instruments), legato does not forbid rearticulation. Standard notation indicates legato either with the word legato, or by a slur (a curved line) under notes that form one legato group. Legato, like staccato, is a kind of articulation. There is an intermediate articulation called either mezzo staccato or non-legato (sometimes referred to as "portato").
In music for classical stringed instruments, legato is an articulation that often refers to notes played with a full bow, and played with the shortest silence, often barely perceptible, between notes. The player achieves this through controlled wrist movements of the bowing hand, often masked or enhanced with vibrato. Such a legato style of playing can also be associated with portamento.
KMXV ("Mix 93.3") is a Top 40 (CHR) station based in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. The Steel City Media outlet operates at 93.3 MHz with an ERP of 100 kW. Its current slogan is "Kansas City's #1 Hit Music Station". It is also one of two Top 40's competing in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, the other being KCHZ. The station's studios are located at Westport Center in Midtown Kansas City, and the transmitter site is in the city's East Side.
The station was sold off by CBS Radio to Wilks Broadcasting in November 2006 as part of a nationwide reduction of radio stations by CBS. On June 12, 2014, Wilks announced that it is selling its Kansas City cluster (of which KMXV is part of) to Pittsburgh-based Steel City Media. The sale was approved on September 26, 2014, and was consummated on September 30.
The station began in 1958 as KCMK-FM (Kansas City, Missouri/Kansas), a classical station, but had several format changes (primarily country) over the next sixteen years. County DJ Jack Wesley "Cactus Jack" Call was at the station (from KCKN) for one week when he was killed on January 25, 1963 in a car crash. Singer Patsy Cline sang at a benefit for him at Memorial Hall (Kansas City, Kansas) on March 3, 1963. She was unable to leave Kansas City the next day because the airport was fogged in and was killed in a plane crash on March 5, 1963 en route from Fairfax Airport to Nashville.
MIX is a Microsoft conference held annually for web developers and designers at which Microsoft showcases upcoming web technologies. The conference is held each spring at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Unlike many of Microsoft's technical conference, MIX has been promoted more heavily to designers by inviting popular speakers from other popular web design conferences, such as SXSW, and has sponsored a CSS design contest each year to promote the conference. Microsoft has also used this conference as an opportunity to promote new web design and development tools such as Silverlight and Microsoft Expression Studio.
On January 24, 2012, the official Microsoft blog stated that there will be no MIX 2012. MIX was replaced by BUILD later that year.
MIX 06 was held from March 20 to March 22, 2006. It focused on the new Internet Explorer 7 and WPF (a part called WPF/E later became known as Silverlight). It featured a keynote by Bill Gates in which he said "We need microformats".
Son, they said, have we got a little theory for you
What you thought was your daddy was really a gorilla
Science teachers show you all the bones, but they don't fit
Your real daddy was Darwin
"Sorry, we still can't prove it, but it has to be taught"
Evolution's still a lie (Repeat)
Why does your school enforce it like its true?
It's just a theory, you know?
Why can't they show me any missing links in the chain?
They dug, they dug -- no evidence -- just quantum leaps
Can't you see -- evolution's a lie
Is something wrong with that? Of course, there is
You're not an accident or do you prefer to be?
You're God's creation, and it's so, it's so
