Cruisers are medium-size warships smaller than Battleships but larger than Escorts. They are the workhorses of any fleet.

Overview
Combining manoeuvrability, firepower, and endurance, they are used for anything from long patrols, blockades, to raids deep into enemy territory. In fleet actions, they support Escorts in screening the advance of the fleet, then form the gun line once the fighting begins. Cruisers are divided into many sub-types. From the mighty Grand Cruisers that can nearly stand up to a Battleship to the speedy Light Cruisers with the quickness to drive off attacking Escorts, each one fills its role in a fleet.[Needs Citation]
Types
Grand Cruisers
Grand Cruisers, also known as "Pocket Battleships"[11], are the heaviest Cruiser class of ship. These are older vessels designed around the concept of cruiser-class vessels wielding Battleship-class firepower. Grand Cruisers were frequently used as raiders, operating on their own as opposed to a larger fleet.[1] They have since largely been replaced in Imperial service by Battlecruisers.[10]
