After 17 years of reporting on the API economy, ProgrammableWeb has made the decision to shut down operations on October 31st.
First launched in 2005, ProgrammableWeb always had the goal to give developers a place to understand APIs and the role they would play in turning the Web into a Platform. When ProgrammableWeb was acquired by MuleSoft, our mission was broadened to cover the impact APIs were having in helping businesses undergo Digital Transformation. From the beginning, ProgrammableWeb has sought to provide our audience with the latest API news and independent analysis while also maintaining an API directory that has grown to over 24,000 entries. Our API University series, focusing on API basics for provider minded organizations, now has over 800 articles. Throughout this time, we have been proud to have played a role in helping the wider market understand the power of APIs.
