Research on license Plate recognition System based on HALCON

Abstract

Vehicle license plate recognition system has a very important application in the field of intelligent transportation, which is the basis and key of intelligent transportation system. The license plate recognition system based on Halcon includes image preprocessing, license plate location, correction, OCR classifier model training, character segmentation and character recognition. This paper uses Visual C + + 2015 as the system development environment, through the image processing Halcon software platform, using BP neural network technology to achieve license plate number recognition. From the image input to the license plate recognition result output, the average response time is about 0.4 seconds, and the recognition accuracy rate is 95.4%. The experimental results show that the license plate correction and self constructed OCR classifier training model have good reliability, and the system work efficiency is high.
