A Study of Gridding Scatter Plot for Heart Rate Variability in the Sleep Onset Latency

Published: 12 April 2019 Publication History

Abstract

In sleep science, sleep onset latency (SOL) is a state between meditation and sleep. Whether the state is fatigue driving or fatigue work, it belongs to sleep onset latency (SOL). This work presents a method which is quantify the Poincaré scatter plot to analyze the heart rate variability (HRV) in the sleep onset latency (SOL). Ten young and healthy people were chosen, and the RR interval of the subjects in the meditation, SOL, and sleep were obtained through the SenseON smart device to form a Poincaré map. Different mesh densities are obtained by gridding the Poincaré map, and then the mesh density will be used as a source to get information entropy of different regions. The results show that for the SOL and the sleep, most of the regional information entropy has obvious changes. For the meditation and the SOL, the information entropy of the regions B and I will change significantly. Therefore, the meshed information entropy can be used as an effective analysis method for heart rate variability (HRV) in the sleep onset latency (SOL).
