4.1K views · 618 reactions | Crab au Gratin 🦀 Credit to: 🎥 @chefalextrim Ingredients: 2Tbsp butter 1/2 cup small diced white onions 1/3 cup small diced red bell pepper 1/3 cup small diced celery 3 cloves garlic minced 1.5Tbsp fresh thyme 2tsp your favorite seafood spice 1.5Tbsp flour 1 cup whole milk 6oz shredded sharp cheddar 8oz picked crab -Sauté onion, pepper, and celery in butter over medium low heat until onion is translucent and lightly browned. -Add garlic and continue to cook for 3 minutes until very fragrant -Add thyme and seafood spice, stir in well -Add flour and continue to stir for 2 minutes -Slowly add milk and little at a time, mixing until homogenous before adding more. -Once milk is fully mixed in add the shredded cheese and continue to stir. We’re going to top the salmon twice for maximum flavor - once before the oven, and once right before serving. . Here is how I made it: . 1.First, lets preheat the oven at 400F. Grab a 1lb salmon filet (or larger, just increase the recipe) and put it on a bakind dish or on a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet while you do the rest of the steps. . 2.For the salmon topping, I mixed together 6 thinly sliced garlic cloves, 2 tbsp of chopped capers, the zest of a large lemon, the juice of half a lemon, 2 tbsp olive oil, a couple pinches of salt, pepper, 1 tbsp sweet paprika, and 1 tsp of Calabrian chili flakes for a burst of heat and flavor. Mix well, then cover the salmon evenly. . 3.Put the salmon in the oven at 400F for about 17-18 minutes. This depends on the thickness of your salmon, so if you are using a thicker or larger piece, it may take a couple more minutes. . 4.For added flavor and presentation, we’re going to top the salmon again. Grab a handful of fresh flat parsley and roughly chop and add to a bowl. Add 1/3 cup of toasted, cooled and chopped walnuts, just a touch of lemon juice and olive oil, a quick pint of salt, and some more chili flakes. Mix well. . 5.Remove the salmon from the oven, top it with as much of the second mixture as you’d like, and serve! . 6.You can have this as is, with roasted veggies or salad, quinoa, rice, and if you’re lowcarb/keto, you can use my kaizen lowcarb rice too! . If you are using softened butter and minced garlic/finely chopped herbs, you can easily mix this in a bowl as well. For the filling, process together 3 tablespoons of a high quality butter, 3-4 large garlic cloves, 1 large handful of fresh tarragon, a couple pinches salt, fresh cracked pepper, and 1/2 tablespoon chile lime seasoning. . 3.Pulse the mixture well, then spoon it over the salmon and make sure its covering the surface somewhat evenly. . 4.For added flavor and presentation, add some lemon slices on top and sprinkle with a little more chile lime seasoning. . 5.Pop the salmon in the oven for 12-14 minutes uncovered at 425F. . 6.Remove from the oven, put it on a serving plate, and top with more fresh tarragon and chile lime seasoning to taste. Since the butter will melt and get onto the sheet, dont be shy about spooning some of that buttery goodness on top of the salmon when you serve. .
