Research shows significant rates of depressive symptoms in people with autistic spectrum disorder... more Research shows significant rates of depressive symptoms in people with autistic spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities. Finding factors related to the development of depression in autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability is necessary. Emotion regulation is associated with depression in autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability. The role of the intellectual disability in this relationship is not clear, so it is necessary to clarify it. One hundred twenty-one adults (M = 35.46 years, SD = 9.46) with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities were evaluated to verify moderating role of intellectual disability and mediating role of emotion regulation. A moderated mediation analysis supported the moderated role of mild intellectual disability in the relationship mediated by emotional dysregulation between autism spectrum disorder and depression symptoms. El proyecto tenia como objetivo adaptar el APS a la modalidad “a distancia”, especifica de la UNED, y el desarrollo de aprendizajes eticos y el compromiso civico facilitando a los estudiantes de Benin conversacion y dialogo en espanol. El proyecto de APSv ha sido llevado a cabo por estudiantes de las Facultades de Educacion (UNED y UCM) y por estudiantes de espanol de la Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS) de la Universite du Porto-Novo (Benin). EnglishThe Service Learning project has been developed in the cyberspace, by students of the Faculty of Education (UNED and UCM), and for Spanish students of Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS) of Universite du Porto-Novo (Benin). This project aimed to provide to ENS’ students of Spanish a service which enables interviews and dialogue with others students with native language. This is the way to develop the civic and ethics engagement in higher education for intercultural dialogue and global citizenship.

This study aimed at analyzing the differences in challenging behaviors between adults with intell... more This study aimed at analyzing the differences in challenging behaviors between adults with intellectual disability and ASD and those who only had intellectual disability, as well as to explore associations between transdiagnostic and clinical variables to these differences. Therapists and educators of 163 adults with intellectual disability (83 with additional ASD diagnosis) completed the test battery. Mean difference analysis and univariate analyses of covariance were performed to determine the impact of clinical variables and transdiagnostic variables on the frequency and severity of challenging behaviors. Results showed that adults with ASD and intellectual disability presented higher frequency and severity of these behaviors. A significant effect of the diagnosis of ASD on the frequency and severity of self-injuries and stereotypies was found. Also, some transdiagnostic variables influencing the presence of these behaviors were highlighted. These factors should be considered when planning and designing interventions for behavioral problems in this population.

BACKGROUND There is extensive documentation supporting the comorbidity of anxiety and autistic sp... more BACKGROUND There is extensive documentation supporting the comorbidity of anxiety and autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). Transdiagnostic factors such as executive functions, emotion regulation, and uncertainty intolerance are associated with anxiety in ASD. AIM The primary aim of this paper is to study anxiety symptoms in adults with ASD and ID and their relationship with transdiagnostic variables. METHOD 121 adults (M = 35.46 years, SD = 9.46) with ASD and intellectual disabilities (ID) were evaluated to determine the predictive and mediating role of executive functioning, emotional regulation and intolerance to uncertainty. RESULTS Hierarchical linear regression showed uncertainty intolerance was a predictor of anxiety. A multiple mediation analysis supported the mediating role of uncertainty intolerance and emotional regulation between ASD and anxiety. CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS These findings suggest that interventions designed to reduce anxiety symptoms in people with ASD and ID should include among their goals emotional regulation and especially intolerance of uncertainty.
