UnPrisoned, Hulu‘s Onyx Collective dramedy starring Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo, has been renewed for Season 2, TVLine has learned.
Inspired by the life of creator Tracy McMillan and showrun by TV vet Yvette Lee Bowser (Living Single, Dear White People), UnPrisoned centers around the complicated relationship between family and marriage therapist Paige (Scandal‘s Washington) and her father Edwin (The Good Fight‘s Lindo) following his release from prison. The series premiered March 10 on Hulu with all eight episodes.
“Kerry is the gold standard for a what a multihyphenate should be — passionate, prolific and endlessly kind,” EVP, Creative Affairs, ABC Signature Tracy Underwood said in a statement. “She, [Executive Producer] Pilar [Savone] and the Simpson Street team are incredible collaborators, and we’re so proud of our most recent Onyx Collective/Hulu series UnPrisoned and Reasonable Doubt, as well as our award-winning series Little Fires Everywhere. We look forward to many more years of their unparalleled creativity and talent.”
The cast also includes Marque Richardson (Dear White People) as Edwin’s parole officer; Faly Rakotohavana (Raven’s Home) as Paige’s impressionable teenage son; Brenda Strong (Supergirl) as Edwin’s former girlfriend; Tim Daly (Private Practice) as Paige’s almost-divorced boyfriend; Jee Young Han (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) as Paige’s foster sister; and Jordyn McIntosh as Little Paige.

Really delighted about the renewal of this show!
Love this show and happy we’re getting more!
Great! I have been worried about this one for a minute.
It was just on an underrated new shows list, so I just watched it (only have the season finale left) it’s a nice show, good to know there will be more.
Those Onyx Collective shows take forever to get renewed.
I thought Reasonable Doubt was renewed fairly quickly.
It was 5 months for Reasonable Doubt, so fair enough it was better than the 8 months we got here.
