ก่อนเข้าวงการมวยปล้ำ โกลด์เบิร์กได้เข้าสู่วงการอเมริกันฟุตบอลให้กับ LA Ram ในปี 1990 และ Atlanta Facon ในตำแหน่งการ์ดทีมรับ ในปี 1992-1994 ในปี 1995 ได้ไปร่วมทีมกับ Carolina Panthers

ในเรสเซิลเมเนีย ครั้งที่ 20 โกลด์เบิร์กได้เจอกับบร็อก เลสเนอร์ โดยมีกรรมการพิเศษ สโตน โคลด์ สตีฟ ออสติน และโกลด์เบิร์กเป็นฝ่ายเอาชนะไปได้สำเร็จ จากนั้นโกลด์เบิร์กได้ลาออกจาก WWE
