IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT -2 - SAHASRA POORNA CHANDRA DARSHANA SHANTI MAHOTSAVAM

OM SRI SAI RAM

Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshana Santhi Mahotsavam
A celebration by devotees of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Varu, the Divine incarnation of the Kali Yuga is entering the auspicious 83rd birthday on 23rd November, 2008. This holy event is an occasion providing us an unique opportunity to observe and celebrate it in a grand and auspicious manner.

This sacred programme which is being conducted mainly for the well being of Mankind and for world peace, commences on the morning of Saturday, 15th November 2008 and culminates in Poornahuti on 17th November 2008. The programme will be conducted by hundreds of Vedic scholars arriving from various parts of India.

As a prelude, talks on the sacred scripture, Srimad Bhagavatam, will commence on 10th November 2008 and be conducted for a week.

The celebration of the completion of 1000 full moon days of the divine incarnation is an unique and auspicious event. Devotees of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Varu should use this rare opportunity to sanctify their lives by coming to Prasanthi Nilayam and have Darshan of our beloved Bhagawan and receive HIS blessings.

Bhagavan directs us to chant Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavanthu instead of Lokha Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu

It has been customary to sing

Lokah Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu

at the end of some devotion sessions. This mantra has been chanted three times after bhajans in Prasanthi Nilayam for years and years. It means, "let all the people in the world be happy" (Lokah has two meanings in Sanskrit, one: people; and the other: world).
In late summer 2008, Bhagawan directed that, hence forward, we should chant
Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavanthu

which means "Let all the worlds be happy."

(and thereby all the beings in the worlds). The earlier mantra referred only to this world. The new mantra refers to all the worlds and is broader in outlook.

Please note that no group or Sai Center has to chant this mantra. Whether it is chanted depends on the culture of each Sai Center. But, if you do chant it, chant it as Swami has said.

Hear the college boys chant the mantra - Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavanthu

 in Prasanthi NIlayam (mp3 file).
