Hammer coral sick or splitting?

Just as the title says... is my hammer coral not doing well or is it splitting? The tentacles in between the two mouths haven't been fully extending the past few days or say and not really sure why? Second picture is what it looked like when I got it

Looks like its splitting, if you can take a picture from the side, you will probably see two heads branching off?

That hammer looks very happy and healthy, I'd say splitting as well.

Usually when they split you will see a bubble like growth in the base of the head, where the tentacles surround it. Hard to describe.

Yeah, that bubble is not "usual" at all, more like unusual, but I agree it does happen.
One of my hammers has gone from 18 heads to over 30, I have never gotten a "bubble".

Hammer bubble

IME, not the usual way it splits, but it does happen. For me it occurs less than once for every 100 heads grown.

No. Your hammer looks good. Just describing the occasional formation of "bubbles" by hammers when they split.
