PEC INTRODUCTION

The Pakistan Engineering Council is a statutory body, constituted under the PEC Act 1976 (V of 1976) amended upto 1st December 2016, to regulate the engineering profession in the country such that it shall function as key driving force for achieving rapid and sustainable growth in all national, economic and social fields. The council shall as its mission set and maintain realistic and internationally relevant standards of professional competence and ethics for engineers, and license engineers, and engineering institutions to competently and professionally promote and uphold the standards.

PEC interacts with the Government, both at the Federal and Provincial level by participating in Commissions, Committees and Advisory Bodies. PEC is a fully representative body of the engineering community in the country.

PEC Governing Body Election (2024-27)

PEC and (ILO) jointly hosted the National Tripartite Validation Workshop

Islamabad, December 9, 2024 – Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and International Labour Organization (ILO) jointly hosted the National Tripartite Validation Workshop on the successful development of first-ever Occupational Safety and Health Code of Practice for the Construction Sector of Pakistan (OSH-CSP-2024). The tripartite constituents including the government, employers, workers and key stakeholders participated in the event. The senior management of PEC, ILO, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD), Federal and Provincial Labour Departments of four federating units, Pakistan United Workers Federation, National Labour Federation of Pakistan addressed during the event. PEC and ILO carried out a series of four tripartite workshops nationwide for dissemination of social dialogue and effective consultations process by taking onboard relevant stakeholders while developing OSH-CSP-2024. The OSH-CSP-2024 would ensure the effective implementation of international OSH standards and best practices to control the accelerated rate of occupational accidents, injuries and fatalities among the workforce associated with the construction sector of Pakistan. Engr. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Senior Vice Chairman, PEC presented a hardbound copy of OSH-CSP-2024 code document to the Mr. Geir Tonstol, Director, ILO country office Pakistan and Mr. Sohail Ahmed Khawaja, Joint Secretary, MOPHRD.

PEC Initiative “Pathway to Practice”

“PEC will ensure that title is awarded from the day-one to fresh graduates”, pledges Engineer Waseem Nazir, Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council. He was speaking at the opening ceremony of PEC initiative “Gateway to Practice”.
Pakistan engineering Council (PEC) has established a permanent a resource – PEC Desk – at University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore. Besides assisting graduates in their registration, the facility is meant to ensure streamlined and efficient access to licensure – a critical step for career in engineering.
