Paul Mauser Archive
Introduction
The
Paul
Mauser
private
archive
represents
a
unique
and
irreplaceable
source
of
original
documents
that
has
been
preserved
until
now
and
must be preserved for future generations.
It
allows
discovering
Paul
Mauser
not
only
as
engineer
but
also
his
relationships with the relatives, friends, competitors and enemies.
The
study
of
his
archive
is
a
great
adventure
for
historical
firearm
researchers
and
enthusiasts.
One
of
the
most
important
aspects
of
the
study
of
Paul
Mauser
and
the
early
Mauser
Archives
is
the
ability
to
track
the
design
genesis
and
production
of
Mauser
firearms.
In
general,
it
is
possible
to
know
when
and
who
had
responsibility
for
a
project,
why,
and
where
the
project
work
occurred
within
the
Mauser
facility.
This
is
crucial
to
properly
understand
the
story
of
a
specific
model
(read
Development of Mauser Firearms through historical documents
).
A
serious
effort
is
on-going
to
preserve,
digitalize
,
study
,
translate
and
publish
this
impressive
amount
of
data;
this
web
site
is
part
of
this
effort.
The
aim
of
this
web
site
is
providing
a
classification
of
the
different
documents
that
can
be
found
in
the
archive
and
show
the
potential
of
this study.
Great
effort
was
implemented
in
familiarizing,
translating
and
interpreting
the Paul Mauser handwriting .
The
historical
study
of
these
amount
of
documents
is
a
combined
effort
of the two authors.
The
digitalization,
classification,
archive
management
and
presentation
as well as the web site design are from
Mauro Baudino
.
The
researchers
or
collectors
interested
in
analyzing
this
unique
source
of
information
can
ask
an
appointment
to
visit
the
archive.
The
authors
are
available
for
sharing
data
and
information
to
researchers
and
authors
interested
in
publishing
articles or for use in their books with proper attribution.
However,
the
use
of
the
documents
presented
in
the
web
site
require
the
permission
of
the
authors
.
It
is
not
allowed
the
use
of
data,
images,
information
without
authorization from the authors
