Independent comics publisher Dynamite has announced two new crossover series: “Hack/Slash vs. Chaos!” and “Vampirella vs. ReAnimator.”
“Hack/Slash vs. Chaos!” will be written by “Hack/Slash” creator Tim Seeley and illustrated by Rapha Lobosco (“Hack/Slash vs. Vampirella”). The series will follow Cassie Hack and her slasher killing partner, Vlad, as they team up with Chaos! Comics’ Evil Ernie to put down some of Cassie and Vlad’s former enemies. Chaos! Comics was a comics publisher active from 1994 to 2002, whose characters Seeley breathed new life into with a self-titled series (“Chaos! Comics”) for Dynamite in 2014. “Hack/Slash” was created in 2004 and originally published by Devil’s Due Publishing. It became an ongoing series in 2007 before moving to Image Comics in 2010.
“Vampirella vs. ReAnimator” will reunite the “Pumpkinhead” creative team of writer Cullen Bunn (“Harrow County”) and artist Blacky Shepherd (“Voltron”), and see Herbert West – aka the ReAnimator – searching for the cure to death in an ancient Aztec tomb. In doing so, he disturbs an ancient, sleeping deity – one who is also a former enemy of Vampirella. “ReAnimator” was originally a part of Dynamite’s “Army of Darkness” line of books before getting a standalone mini-series in 2015. Vampirella was created in 1969 and has appeared in various comics, magazine, and graphic novels ever since.
Solicits for these series are soon to follow.
