Picnic Paper Plate Holders

Hi everyone! Can you believe it is August already? Hopefully you will have a few more occasions to eat Al Fresco! I prettied up some paper plate holders and set a fancy table to share with you.
I have had these plate holders for awhile and couldn't decide what to do with them. I decided on grey, because I had some. Then my daughter came up with the rest of the design.
After all the plate holders were painted, I taped off the side sections because I wanted to paint a white stripe across the middle. I wasn't sure how well this would work since the plate holder is curved.
They came out pretty well! My next step was to put a number inside the white stripe.
I used a stencil for my number. I took an old magazine cover, since it was a little stiffer than paper and cut out a square the same size as the number stencil. I covered the plate with the magazine cover and laid the stencil in the opening. This way I could protect the rest of the plate while painting the number turquoise.
Here it is! I love how these turned out!
I set up a nautical tablescape using my plate holders.
I used turquoise, grey, black and white for my colors.
I added in some seashells, rope, and glass floats.
