All the news that's fit to fit...

Certainly one of my favorites, and don't even know why...

If data is changable enough that it can cater to specific groups, where are you in the equation?

First and foremost they mighta tried telling us why it was called gulf of Mexico in the first place, but that's a story for another day. The point I'm trying to make is the ubiquitousness of Google searches and mapping and how it's become such an integral part of our every day lives.
If the people at Google can change a name - or a fact for that matter - on a whim and call it different things to different people, where does that road lead us? I personally don't know, but I think that road's on a pretty slippery slope. Juss' sayin'...

I have a number of black friends and almost to a person they agree (with one hold-out originally from Detroit) who all agree that saying there is a 'Black National Anthem' is bullshit. It should be an insult to all of us that one segment of our diverse and polyglot population decrees that it should have it's own anthem, different and seperate from our collective National Anthem. Even these friends agree that it is an example of pandering at it's worst.

One of my all time favorite movies with one glaringly insane flaw -
Mickey Rooney as Mr. Yunioshi, the Japanese upstairs neighbor.

Hamas fighters in Gaza girding their loins for another pissing contest with the Jews they detest so much they're willing to die to prove it. What a sad, fucked up way to live a life - filled with so much hatred.

I'm assuming this is from an episode of the Simpsons, right?
Had to be pretty funny no matter what.
...

Yeah - 'Masculine Energy' is the first thing that pops in to my mind
when I see this fuckin' pipsqueak. Jeez...

This is a real bar not terribly far from my house - it's the Alafia River Beer Shed.
If you don't like bars like this me and you can't be friends, sorry.
There's a fairly well-produced video 'review' of the place here on Instagram...

Here's another from Playboy...

More Playboy cartoons, less boobage...

It's tragic to think cartoon nipples would be found 'offensive'...

Oh, like we needed to see a study to learn this...

Where the hell are all of these 'new jobs'?

New labor statistics were released today. The latest labor statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show that in January 2025, nonfarm payroll employment increased by 143,000 jobs. The unemployment rate was 4.0%.
These numbers do not include workers who are 'not on the books' (ie: Illegals) If those workers - roofers, landscapers, etc. - were factored in, they would represent 88% of the new jobs created in the last 12 months.

Honey - where's the remote?

Experts have sounded the alarm that a peculiar kitchen behaviour could signal dementia, urging people to consult a doctor if observed in someone close.
"Anyone can temporarily misplace a wallet or keys. However, a person living with dementia may put things in inappropriate places," it clarified. "For example, a remote in the refrigerator."
The Alzheimer's Society in the UK has also highlighted this as a key symptom to watch out for in individuals with dementia. The society said:“People with dementia often lose items as a result of their memory loss.
“They may misplace common items, such as glasses or keys, or put an item somewhere for safekeeping and then forget where it is. They may also leave items in unusual places – for example, leaving the remote control in the bathroom, or the fridge.”

The sub didn't cut it...

If this is true I may be fucked...

GoBankingRates found that you need to have more than $1 million in savings to retire comfortably in 23 states for 20 years. These include California, Massachusetts, Washington, New Jersey, Colorado, New Hampshire, Utah, Oregon, Rhode Island, Alaska, New York, Connecticut, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Maryland, Arizona, Maine, Vermont, Florida, Virginia, and Delaware.
It also includes Hawaii, the most expensive state of all, which requires more than $3 million in savings for a 20-year comfortable retirement. Specifically, for a comfortable retirement to age 85, you'll need $3,105,384. To reach this, GoBankingRates explained you'd need to "start saving $5,751 a month at age 20 or $7,394 a month at age 30 (with Social Security benefits)."
But there are still plenty of places where $500,000 in savings offers a comfortable retirement. That includes Louisiana, which requires $499,020; Arkansas, at $489,937; Mississippi, at $442,620; and West Virginia, which GoBankingRates noted is the cheapest state of all, at $434,501.
Uhoh, doesn't look good for Babs and me...

Oops - I did it again...

I deleted last night's post because it was also
put behind a 'warning'. It was obviously horrifyingly offensive to some overly-sensitive someone somewhere in a cubicle in an underground bunker.

How incredibly appropriate that the group that named themselves after the place I live in would finally come to visit! The group that stormed onto the disco scene in the 1970s (well, actually, none of these guys were in the original group, but who cares, right?) will be performing on April 10 at Savannah Center ( mid-sze venue) here. There will be shows at 4 and 7 p.m.
The group rose to prominence decades ago with 'flamboyant costumes, strong messaging and unique choreography'. Trump has long used “YMCA” on the campaign trail, and his fist-pumping enthusiasm for the song became a signature part of his rallies. That fact alone is probably why he got elected.

It really is scary how people are freaking out about shutting down this boodoggle of an operation. Somewhere along the line somebody's feet have to be put to the fire for all the stupid shit these jerkoffs did with your money.

...

PBS is shutting down its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) office and its diversity officers are leaving (being fired) in response to President Trump’s executive orders to get rid of that stupid fuckin' nonsense...

Can somebody out there translate this one for me?

This move is absolutely fuckin' brilliant...
Defense Department Secretary Pete Hegseth on Monday signed a memorandum reversing the political left's decision to rename Fort Bragg as Fort Liberty. In a statement, Pentagon press secretary John Ullyot explained Hegseth's decision on the storied North Carolina base.
He wrote: "Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth signs a memorandum aboard a C-17 en route from Joint Base Andrews to Stuttgart on February 10, 2025, directing the renaming of Fort Liberty, North Carolina, to Fort Roland L. Bragg.
The new name honors the heroic service of Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II veteran awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his extraordinary bravery during the Battle of the Bulge.

WTF - why not? Here's another HillBetty for ya...

...

Being able to present what my wife creates is the best reason I have
for doing this, and besides, what else would I do with all this free time?
Anyway, when you buy her gifts of the jewelry Barbara makes, you do three things: You show your support for this blog, you get a great gift and you get it at a very good price.  Just click on that picture of some of her work to see what she has available today.

This happens with cars and golf carts more often than you hear about...

I hate to laigh at someone's misfortune, but this is the fourth or fifth one I've heard about in just the last couple of weeks. Evidently, these batteries just don't like to get wet in any way. There was no caption for this beyond the headline, so I wonder if the guy on the phone is the owner, or is it some passer-by who just doesn't give a shit. Hmmm.
