October 2 - Tournament of Champions for Rookies
Tuesday October 2nd, Tournament of Champions for Rookies!!
12 AM GMT time / 8 PM Eastern time / 5 PM Pacific
In order to qualify as a Rookie you must have joined online Lux in the last year. If you played online before the last Luxtoberfest you are not a rookie.
This TOC will consist of 1-3 rooms (as needed) with only Rookies playing, for a period of 3 hours. It's OK to show up somewhat late to this event and still join in.
The maps played will be Classic Risk, Classic Part Deux, and some 2007 MOTWs. A mix of card and continent settings will be used.
Scoring is as follows (for each game):
8 points for 1st place
5 points for 2nd place
4 points for 3rd place
3 points for 4th place
2 points for 5th place
1 point for 6th place
Each person's score will be calculated as (total points / games) with a minimum of 3 games required. If there is a tie then a tie-breaker match will be played to declare the Rookie winner.

Believe me, I've been living with that joke ever since they started showing the movie in classes.Mike wrote:Tobey wrote:Best use of that movie quote I've seen, well, ever.Mike wrote: Ha - another alias, I know who this is... 'You're name is Kunta Kinte'

The official user ID cutoff for rookies this year is 13913 and above.
If your lowest user ID is 13913 or above you qualify as a rookie. If not, you qualify as an old player instead.
You can find your user ID on your ranking page, and on your alias listing page (if you've ever had aliases). Remember: it's your lowest user ID that matters.

lol… youre 8 short of it… you will probably get in.newbeslaya wrote:Dustin, I joined near the end of last year's luxtoberfest but didnt play in it cuz i didnt understand. Can I play in the rookie tourney?
how about me?
In the summer of 2006, I played 121 games in seventeen days (not including my alias mandywak, which is my sister Mandy, who played one game under my name). If these games were tacked onto when I started playing again, I would have started on April eighth instead of April twenty-fifth. Also, I did not compete in Luxtoberfest last year (or even know of it for that matter, so it is a completely new experience for me.
you said some leeway would be given. is 17 days leeway acceptable?

thanks Dustin. About 2 hours earlier might just be enough
Maybe we could have regional qualifiers next year or something to allow each region's players get in the competition.
p.s. I think you do a fantastic job of running this and I do realise it's more complicated to put this on than just hosting a couple of games.
