1911 Mods

Had a gunsmith perform a trigger job, front strap striping and re-parkerization on my RIA GI 1911. Holy crap I love it even more now! Reduced the trigger uptake and trigger pull down to 4.5lbs. The trigger breaks so clean now; amazing work this guy did. If you need work done check them out.... Bolle and Tammaro Gunsmithing next to Mary's Pistols in Tacoma. Bill the owner knows his ****... a proud craftsman and gentleman to boot.

Just to warn you this guy is BUSY and does not rush jobs. Turnaround is not quick but the workmanship is awesome.

Congrats. Looks like they did some great work for you. I personally go to Springer Precision who Just happens to be local. They do great work and I have no complaints. Here's my carry 1911:

Detonics Servicemaster.
I'm a Southpaw so here's what I had done.
Internal cleanup and trigger reduced to 3.5lb pull (hands down the best trigger pull I've ever felt)
Ambi thumb safety with the left side shaved down
Ambi magazine release
Trijicon night sights (he had to do a crazy fit for these to work)
refinished the slide
alumagrips
Extended magwell

The gun also has a carry melt done to it but it was done before I bought it so not sure of who did the work.

When we lived back east, we sent my husband's stock 'GI' Springfield 1911A1 (ca 1987),that had sat in a safe for almost 20 years before he found it, to Greg Derr. He worked his magic and the result doesn't look a thing like the original, and shoots like a dream.

Ed Brown commander-style hammer
new trigger & beavertail
Novak Sights
Bobtail mainspring housing.
Stippling of frontstrap and backstrap
hard chromed
new grips
proper mating of frame and slide.
extended mag release
shaved down beavertail and slide release
custom bushing, mated to the barrel

My Colt is just about due to be completely over hauled.

I'm looking around for a serious 1911 shop. My barrel and slide are ported, and want a shop than I can trust to cut in some real sites w/out ******* up the slide. Probably get it coated in some sort of a cool pattern. It had the idiot mark when I got it.
The slide needs to be tightened up and some new springs would be nice.

I've found a couple but haven't done a ton or research..

I've had it well over 10 years and have more than a couple thousand rounds down the pipe.

Most of the modifications so far (mild) I did myself.

Thank you! It's wonderful. I love it. The gun's supposed to be my husbands but I steal it on a regular basis and pretend it's mine. :devil:

Fits my hand perfectly, everything's in the right spot. The trigger is so smooth and light. Definitely a great gun to shoot. And the bobbed tail makes it easier to conceal and carry w/o jabbing yourself in the ribs. I don't carry it, though, it's one of his carry guns.

I figured I'd post the Kimber as well. I have some pics of them together but they include an old Colt sistema that I recently sold so it probably wouldn't be right to post about a gun I no longer own lol. I'll take some pics of the Kimber and Detonics together.

Only aftermarket item is the Carbon Creations Kimber carbon fiber grips. They have a very nice feel to them and make her stand out a bit.

The factory Meprolight night sights. I managed to find a Custom II that had that option from the factory. Normally they just use the standard Novaks I believe.
