I am a member of the faculty (currently an Associate Professor) at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Previously, I was a Lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Cyprus (2005-2009) and a Senior Researcher at the Telecommunications Research Center Vienna (2003-2005).
I obtained my Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1997, before moving to the Electrical Engineering Department of Stanford University where I obtained a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (1999), a M.Sc. in Math (2002), and eventually a Ph.D. under the advice of Andrea Goldsmith (Wireless Systems Lab), in 2003.
My research interests are in the field of multihop wireless networks. I am interested in various aspects of their design and operation, such as capacity bounds for them (i.e., theoretical upper bounds on their performance), the optimization of the flow of traffic through them, the protocols in various layers (such as the routing, multiple access control and power control protocols) as well as their cross-layer design. I have also explored analogies between wireless networking and various branches of Physics such as Electrostatics and Optics. I am mostly interested in recently proposed, challenging and unexplored applications, such as vehicular networks, sensor networks, next-generation multiple-hop cellular networks, etc. I am mostly using tools coming from the various branches of probability and optimization. Lately, I am focusing on delay-tolerant networks.
