Abstract: This study determines the link between growth and income inequality in a sample of 31 Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) countries over the period of 20 years (1992–2011). It focused on the usefulness of inclusive growth which is desirable for a prosperous and egalitarian region. Notionally, the study reviews the economic literature on the determinants of inequality and growth. This analysis shows up that the twice relationship and transmission channels have different effects which led to the formulation and estimation of two structural models with two equations. The results achieved by the generalized method of moments show that economic growth has an increasing inequality effect of income, but it could help to reduce income inequality through human capital investment. Moreover, it reveals that the reduction in income inequality has a non-negative significant effect on growth as well as income inequality does not charge the promotion of growth through trade liberalization. Therefore, unequal fatalist’s growth of Kuznets (1955) could not be taken as universal and systematic.
