Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2017, vol. 77, issue C, 1251-1260

Abstract: This paper investigates the relationship between electricity consumption and economic growth in Laos by applying the ARDL bounds testing approach to cointegration and Granger causality tests. Our results confirm the existence of a long run relationship between electricity consumption and economic growth. In addition, we found unidirectional causality running from economic growth to electricity consumption in the long run supporting the ‘Conservation hypothesis’.
