A DYNAMIC MODEL OF LAND USE CHANGE WITH SPATIALLY EXPLICIT DATA

Alessandro (Alex) De Pinto and Gerald Nelson

No 20314, 2004 Annual meeting, August 1-4, Denver, CO from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: A discrete choice dynamic model was used to predict land use change for an area in Panama. Our results show not only that our modeling technique performs better than static models, but it is also superior to previous attempts to model land use change in a dynamic fashion.
