New results from the Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab / Incagli, Marco (speaker) (Universita & INFN Pisa (IT))
The Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab aims to measure the muon magnetic moment anomaly, aμ = (g − 2)/2, with a final accuracy of 140 parts per billion. The experiment’s first result from the 2018 dataset, Run 1, was published in 2021 and confirmed the previous result obtained at Brookhaven National Laboratory with a similar sensitivity [...]

How to precisely measure the W boson properties - the most recent ATLAS results / Aperio Bella, Ludovica (speaker) (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DE))
The Standard Model is the most powerful theory describing the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions. Historically, relations between the fundamental parameters of the SM have been used to predict the mass of the top quark and to put constraints on the Higgs boson mass before these particles were experimentally confirmed [...]

2nd Series on Data Protection - Exploring Scholarly Communication Using The Decentralized Web / Hochstenbach, Patrick (speaker)
AbstractIn this lecture we present a new approach to assemble the scholarly record of researchers using a decentralized architecture for generating, propagating and notification of artifact lifecycle information in scholarly networks. Scholarly artifacts go through many stages from the creation of artifacts, through the registration of these artifacts in repositories, requesting certification at a publisher websites where they will be peer-reviewed and eventually published, to the archivation in a (web) archive [...]

3rd Series on Data Protection - The Past, Present and Future of Online Tracking / Veale, Michael (speaker) (University College London's Faculty of Laws)
Abstract:  Most users of the Internet today cannot remember an online experience without significant amounts of tracking. In this lecture, I will outline both where we have come from --- how even when the law has arguably kept up, enforcement has been limited and confused --- as well as where we are going [...]

CERN Academic Training on hadron therapy - New treatment options at CNAO: the Boron Neutron Capture Therapy / Necchi, Monica (speaker)
AbstractBoron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is a technique that aims at selectively treating tumour cells while sparing healthy tissue, by concentrating a boron compound in the tumour mass and then exposing the tumour to thermal neutrons: . The technique was first proposed soon after the discovery of the neutron and the observation that boron easily captures low-energy neutrons [...]

2nd Series on Data Protection - Control your data on the Web: An introduction to Solid and Linked Data / Dedecker, Ruben (speaker) (Ghent University)
Abstract: The Web is dominated by platforms providing functionality from Social Networking to Video streaming and Web Shopping. Using these platforms on a daily basis, we often forget the vast amount of data collected, stored and used, while that data could be useful for other applications as well [...]

3rd Series on Data Protection - It’s Platforms All the Way Down”: Understanding Data and Power in the Digital Economy / Veale, Michael (speaker) (University College London's Faculty of Laws)
Abstract: A feature of the modern digital economy is the “platform” business strategy. But what is this, and how does it work? In this lecture, I will explain different views on what a “platform” is, and why it is crucial to understand the way platforms function and accumulate power regardless of which aspect of the digital world is of interest [...]

Long baseline atom interferometry / Kasevich, Mark (speaker) (Stanford University)
Recent advances in methods to coherently manipulate atomic de Broglie waves have enabled a new generation of atom interferometers with unique capability to address outstanding fundamental science challenges.  These challenges include detection of gravitational radiation at frequencies below 1 Hz, searches for ultralight dark matter, and new tests of gravitational physics.  This talk will describe recent  progress in this field and outline future scientific opportunities. This is special Colloquium part of the “Terrestrial Very-Long-Baseline Atom Interferometry Workshop” (13-14 March 2023) with a short introduction to the Workshop at 08:45.The Colloquium is officially starting at 09:15..

The LHCb RICH Upgrade: from design to early performance / Gambetta, Silvia (speaker) (The University of Edinburgh (GB))
The first year of Run 3 has just concluded and for the LHCb experiment it has been the first chance to take data with the its brand new detectors. During LHC Long-Shutdown 2, the LHCb experiment underwent a major upgrade in order to be able to operate at the instantaneous luminosity of 2×1033cm−2s−1 and a reading data rate of 40 MHz with a fully software-based trigger. Computer Security: Past, Present & Future / Lueders, Stefan (speaker) (CERN)
AbstractThis presentation shall take a look at the common pitfalls when developing software or deploying computing services to the world. Attackers are on the prowl finding the usual misconfigurations, errors or blunders in such software and hardware and try to exploit them for their evil deeds [...]
