Exploring cosmic origins with CORE: Survey requirements and mission design
/ CORE Collaboration
Future observations of cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarisation have the potential to answer some of the most fundamental questions of modern physics and cosmology. In this paper, we list the requirements for a future CMB polarisation survey addressing these scientific objectives, and discuss the design drivers of the CORE space mission proposed to ESA in answer to the "M5" call for a medium-sized mission. [...]

Measurement and Correction of the Fermilab Booster Optics with LOCO*
/ Tan, C Y (Fermilab) ; Lebedev, V (Fermilab) ; Triplett, A K (Fermilab) ; McAteer, M (CERN)
The optics of the original Booster lacked the ability for full optics correction and it was not until 2009 when new optics corrector packages were installed between gradient magnets that this ability became available. The optics correction method that is chosen is called LOCO (Linear Optics from Closed Orbits) that measures the orbit response from every beam position monitor (BPM) in the ring from every kick of every dipole corrector. Quadrupole Transfer Function for Emittance Measurement
/ Cameron, Peter (Brookhaven) ; Gasior, Marek (CERN) ; Jansson, Andreas (Fermilab) ; Tan, Cheng-Yang (Fermilab)
Historically the use of the quadrupole moment measurement has been impeded by the requirement for large dynamic range, as well as measurement sensitivity to beam position. We investigate the use of the transfer function technique [1-3] in combination with the sensitivity and 160dB revolution line rejection of the direct diode detection analog front end [4] to open the possibility of an emittance diagnostic that may be implemented without operational complication, quasi- parasitic to the operation of existing tune measurement systems. Electron Cloud at Low Emittance in CesrTA
/ Palmer, Mark (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Alexander, James (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Billing, Michael (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Calvey, Joseph (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Conolly, Christopher (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Crittenden, James (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Dobbins, John (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Dugan, Gerald (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Eggert, Nicholas (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Fontes, Ernest (Cornell U., CLASSE) et al.
The Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) has been reconfigured as a test accelerator (CesrTA) for a program of electron cloud (EC) research at ultra low emittance. The instrumentation in the ring has been upgraded with local diagnostics for measurement of cloud density and with improved beam diagnostics for the characterization of both the low emittance performance and the beam dynamics of high intensity bunch trains interacting with the cloud [...]

/ Cameron, P ; Della Penna, A ; Hoff, L ; Gasior, M (CERN) ; Jones, R (CERN) ; Luo, Y ; Marusic, A ; Ptitsyn, V ; Schultheiss, C ; Tan, C Y et al.
The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) is a versatile facility, capable of operating with both polarized protons and a variety of ion species over a broad range of energies. Acceleration ramp requirements change frequently to meet the needs of the physics experiments. [...]
