The field of particle physics is at the crossroads. The discovery of a Higgs-like boson completed the Standard Model (SM), but the lacking observation of convincing resonances Beyond the SM (BSM) offers no guidance for the future of particle physics. [...]

Beyond MET: Long-Lived Particles at the LHC
/ Desai, Nishita (TIFR, Mumbai, Dept. Theor. Phys.)
Traditional searches for dark matter at the LHC rely on large missing transverse energy, or MET. I describe here, models that are inspired by co-annihilating, co-scattering or freeze-in dark matter that are not visible in MET searches, but require specialised searches to be seen. [...]

/LHC Reinterpretation Forum
We report on the status of efforts to improve the reinterpretation of searches and measurements at the LHC in terms of models for new physics, in the context of the LHC Reinterpretation Forum. We detail current experimental offerings in direct searches for new particles, measurements, technical implementations and Open Data, and provide a set of recommendations for further improving the presentation of LHC results in order to better enable reinterpretation in the future. Searching for long-lived particles beyond the Standard Model at the Large Hadron Collider

Particles beyond the Standard Model (SM) can generically have lifetimes that are long compared to SM particles at the weak scale. When produced at experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, these long-lived particles (LLPs) can decay far from the interaction vertex of the primary proton-proton collision. [...]

Extended Gauge Mediation in the NMSSM with Displaced LHC Signals
/ Badziak, Marcin (Warsaw U.) ; Desai, Nishita (U. Montpellier 2, LUPM) ; Hugonie, Cyril (U. Montpellier 2, LUPM) ; Ziegler, Robert (CERN)
We analyze models of extended Gauge Mediation in the context of the NMSSM, concentrating on supersymmetric spectra with light gluinos, low fine-tuning and decays of the lightest neutralino leading to displaced vertices. While the minimal scenario has rather heavy gluinos as a result of restrictions from the Higgs sector, we propose two new models in which the gluino can be as light as allowed by direct searches at the LHC, with a mass of about 1.7 TeV and 2.0 TeV, respectively. An Introduction to PYTHIA 8.2

Phys.) ; Desai, Nishita (U. Heidelberg, ITP) ; Ilten, Philip (MIT, Cambridge, Dept. Phys.) ; Mrenna, Stephen (Fermilab) ; Prestel, Stefan (DESY ; SLAC) ; Rasmussen, Christine O. (Lund U., Dept. The PYTHIA program is a standard tool for the generation of events in high-energy collisions, comprising a coherent set of physics models for the evolution from a few-body hard process to a complex multiparticle final state. It contains a library of hard processes, models for initial- and final-state parton showers, matching and merging methods between hard processes and parton showers, multiparton interactions, beam remnants, string fragmentation and particle decays. Closing in on the Tip of the CMSSM Stau Coannihilation Strip
/ Desai, Nishita (U. Heidelberg, ITP) ; Ellis, John (King's Coll. London ; CERN) ; Luo, Feng (King's Coll. London) ; Marrouche, Jad (CERN)
Near the tip of the stau coannihilation strip in the CMSSM with a neutralino LSP, the astrophysical cold dark matter density constraint forces the stau-neutralino mass difference to be small. If this mass difference is smaller than the tau mass, the stau may decay either in the outer part of an LHC detector - the `disappearing track' signature - or be sufficiently long-lived to leave the detector before decaying - the long-lived massive charged-particle signature.
