/ Cubiss, J G (York U., England) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England ; JAEA, Ibaraki) ; Barzakh, A E (Unlisted) ; Van Duppen, P (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Hilaire, S (CEA DAM) ; Péru, S (CEA DAM) ; Goriely, S (Brussels U., IAA) ; Al Monthery, M (York U., England) ; Althubiti, N A (Manchester U. ; Al Jouf U. ; Ain Shames U.) ; Andel, B (Comenius U.) et al.
The changes in mean-squared charge radii of neutron-deficient gold nuclei have been determined using the in-source, resonance-ionization laser spectroscopy technique, at the ISOLDE facility (CERN). From these new data, nuclear deformations are inferred, revealing a competition between deformed and spherical configurations. [...]

/ Auranen, K (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Jakobsson, U (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Badran, H (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Grahn, T (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Greenlees, P T (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Herzáň, A (Jyvaskyla U. ; Bratislava, Inst. Phys.) ; Julin, R (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Juutinen, S (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Konki, J (Jyvaskyla U. ; CERN) ; Leino, M (Jyvaskyla U.) et al.
We have identified an isomeric state in $^{201}$Fr for which we propose a spin and parity of $13/2^+$, and interpret it as arising from the $\pi(i_{13/2})$ configuration. A half-life of 720(40) ns was measured, corresponding to $B(M2)=0.17(2)$ W.u., in good agreement with those of other $13/2^+ \to 9/2^- [\pi (i_{13/2}) \to \pi(h_{9/2})]$ transitions observed in other nuclei in the region. / Parr, E (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Smith, J F (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Greenlees, P T (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Auranen, K (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Chapman, R (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Cullen, D M (Manchester U.) ; Grahn, T (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Grocutt, L (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Herzáň, A (Jyvaskyla U. ; Bratislava, Inst. Phys.) ; Herzberg, R D (Liverpool U.) et al.
Fine structure in the α decay of $^{221}_{90}$Th, populating excited states in $^{217}_{88}$Ra, was studied using αγ-coincidence spectroscopy. Two α-decay branches from $^{221}$Th have been newly observed, with $E_{\alpha} \mathrm{(keV)} [b_{\alpha}(\%)]=7951(8)[0.14(3)]$ and $8247(3)[1.51(12)]$, together with three previously known branches. A projectile Coulomb-excitation experiment was performed at the radioactive ion beam facility HIE-ISOLDE at CERN. The radioactive $^{140}$Nd and $^{142}$Sm ions were post accelerated to the energy of 4.62 MeV/A and impinged on a 1.45 mg/cm$^2$-thin $^{208}$Pb target. [...]

/ Harding, R D (York U., England ; CERN) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England ; JAERI, Tokai) ; Barzakh, A E (St. Petersburg, INP) ; Cubiss, J G (York U., England) ; Van Duppen, P (Leuven U.) ; Al Monthery, M (York U., England) ; Althubiti, N A (Manchester U.) ; Andel, B (Leuven U. ; Comenius U.) ; Antalic, S (Comenius U.) ; Cocolios, T E (Leuven U. ; Manchester U.) et al.
A study of the laser-ionized and mass-separated neutron-deficient isotopes $^{176,177,179}$Au was performed using the Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source and the Windmill detection setup at ISOLDE, CERN. New and improved data on complex fine-structure α decays of the three isotopes were deduced, providing insight into the low-lying levels in the daughter nuclei $^{172,173,175}$Ir. [...]

Dealing with contaminants in Coulomb excitation of radioactive beams

(main) ; Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Gaffney, L P (Liverpool U. ; CERN) ; Kaya, L (Cologne U.) ; Berry, T (Surrey U.) ; Boukhari, A (Orsay) ; Brunet, M (Surrey U.) ; Canavan, R (Surrey U. ; Teddington, Natl. Phys. Lab) ; Catherall, R (CERN) et al.
Data analysis of the Coulomb excitation experiment of the exotic $^{206}$Hg nucleus, recently performed at CERN’s HIE-ISOLDE facility, needs to account for the contribution to target excitation due to the strongly-present beam contaminant $^{130}$Xe. In this paper, the contamination subtraction procedure is presented..

A comprehensive study of the isotope $^{178}$ Au has been made at the CERN-ISOLDE facility, using resonance laser ionization. Two long-lived states in $^{178}$ Au were identified—a low-spin ground state and a high-spin isomer—each of which were produced as pure beams. [...]

We measured absolute cross sections for neutron transfer channels populated in the Rb94+Pb208 binary reaction. Cross sections have been extracted identifying directly the lead isotopes with the high efficiency MINIBALL γ-ray array coupled to a particle detector combined with a radioactive Rb94 beam delivered at Elab=6.2 MeV/nucleon by the HIE-ISOLDE facility. Quadrupole deformation of $^{130}$Xe measured in a Coulomb-excitation experiment
/ Morrison, L (Surrey U.) ; Hadyńska-Klȩk, K (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab ; Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Doherty, D T (Surrey U.) ; Gaffney, L P (Liverpool U. ; CERN) ; Kaya, L (Cologne U.) ; Próchniak, L (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab) ; Samorajczyk-Pyśk, J (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab) ; Srebrny, J (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab) ; Berry, T (Surrey U.) et al.
Low-lying states in the isotope $^{130}$Xe were populated in a Coulomb-excitation experiment performed at CERN's HIE-ISOLDE facility. The magnitudes and relative signs of seven $E2$ matrix elements and one $M1$ matrix element coupling five low-lying states in $^{130}$Xe were determined using the semiclassical coupled-channel Coulomb-excitation least-squares search code gosia.
