The status of the FCC-ee optics tuning
/ van Riesen-Haupt, Léon (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Franchi, Andrea (ESRF, Grenoble) ; Faus-Golfe, Angeles (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Chance, Antoine (Paris, CEA) ; Dalena, Barbara (Paris, CEA) ; Järmyr Eriksson, Carl (CERN) ; Carli, Christian (CERN) ; Garcia Jaimes, Cristobal Miguel (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Shatilov, Dmitry (CERN) ; Musa, Elaf (DESY) et al.
With a circumference of approximately 91 km, the Future Circular electron-positron Collider, FCC-ee, aims for unprecedented luminosities at beam energies from 45.6 to 182.5 GeV. A major challenge is reaching its design performance in the presence of magnet misalignments and field errors. [...]

FCC-ee is a proposed lepton collider with a circumference close to 100 km to produce an unprecedented amount of luminosity. The FCC-ee optics tuning working group is addressing one of the most critical aspects of the FCC-ee, that is the recovery of the optics design performance in presence of realistic imperfections. First operational dodecapole correction in the LHC
/ Dilly, J (CERN ; Humboldt U., Berlin (main)) ; Ferrentino, V (CERN ; Naples U.) ; Le Garrec, M (CERN ; Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Maclean, E H (CERN) ; Malina, L (DESY) ; Persson, T (CERN) ; Pugnat, T (CERN) ; van Riesen-Haupt, L (LPHE, Lausanne) ; Soubelet, F (CERN ; U. Liverpool (main)) ; Tomás, R (CERN)
Amplitude detuning measurements in the LHC have shown that a significant amount of detuning is generated via feed-down from high-order field errors in the magnets of the experiment insertion regions. This undesired effect can be detrimental to the luminosity production of the machine and is expected to be enhanced in the upcoming high-luminosity upgrade of the collider, the HL-LHC. [...]

Optics Correction Strategy for Run 3 of the LHC

After more than 3 years of shutdown the LHC is again operational in 2022. Experience from the previous Long Shutdown (LS) has shown that the local errors in the triplet quadrupoles changed significantly between Run 1 and Run 2, and first measurements in 2022 unveil further changes. [...]

Report from LHC MD 3312: Replicating HL-LHC DA
/ Dilly, Joschua Werner (Humboldt University of Berlin (DE)) ; Albert, Markus (CERN) ; Carlier, Felix Simon (CERN) ; Coello De Portugal - Martinez Vazquez, Jaime Maria ; Dalena, Barbara (Université Paris-Saclay (FR)) ; Fol, Elena (CERN) ; Hofer, Michael (CERN) ; Maclean, Ewen Hamish (CERN) ; Malina, Lukas ; Persson, Tobias Hakan Bjorn (CERN) et al.
During MD3312 on the 30.10.2018 the non-linear conditions in the insertion regions of the planned HL-LHC were replicated to our best knowledge and within the capabilities of the hardware currently available in the LHC: A flat ATS-optics scheme of beta* = 15cm / 60cm in IP1 and IP5 was applied as well as sextupole, octupole and (normal) dodecapole errors were introduced into the machine via the corrector magnets in the interaction regions. New LHC optics correction approaches in 2017
/ Maclean, E H (CERN) ; Tomás, R (CERN) ; Carlier, F S (CERN) ; Camillocci, J (CERN) ; Coello De Portugal, E (CERN) ; Fol, K (CERN) ; Fuchsberger, A (CERN) ; Valdivieso, Garcia-Tabares (CERN) ; Giovannozzi, M (CERN) ; Hofer, M (CERN) et al.
The optics commissioning strategy for low-$\beta ^{*}$ operation of the LHC underwent
significant revision in 2017 [1]. The beam-based correction strategy
transitioned from being concerned exclusively with linear optics errors, to a
combined linear and nonlinear optics commissioning, with the traditional optics
corrections at flat-orbit being both preceded and followed by corrections for
the effect of nonlinear errors in the ATLAS and CMS insertions..

Driven 3D Beam Oscillations for Optics Measurements in Synchrotrons
/ Malina, Lukas (CERN) ; Coello de Portugal, Jaime María (CERN) ; Timko, Helga (CERN) ; Tomás García, Rogelio (CERN)
Optics measurements in storage rings employ turn-by-turn data of transversely excited beams. Traditionally, to measure chromatic properties, the relative momentum is changed step-wise, which is time-consuming and almost impractical during the energy ramp. [...]

Optics Measurement by Excitation of Betatron Oscillations in the CERN PSB
/ Maclean, Ewen H (CERN) ; Antoniou, Fanouria (CERN) ; Asvesta, Foteini (CERN) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Dilly, Joschua W (CERN) ; Fol, Elena (CERN) ; Garcia Morales, Hector (CERN) ; Hofer, Michael (CERN) ; Keintzel, Jacqueline (CERN) et al.
Optics measurement from analysis of turn-by-turn BPM data of betatron oscillations excited with a kicker magnet has been employed very successfully in many machines but faces particular challenges in the CERN PSB where BPM to BPM phase advances are sub-optimal for optics reconstruction. Experience using turn-by-turn oscillation data for linear optics measurements during PSB commissioning in2021 is presented, with implications for the prospect of such techniques in the PSB more generally..
