Mixed-Field Radiation of 3-D MLC Flash Memories for Space Applications / Gonzales, Lorenzo (Maribor U.) ; Danzeca, Salvatore (CERN) ; Fiore, Salvatore (CERN) ; Kramberger, Iztok (Maribor U.)
This article presents the results of dynamic measurements of 3-D multilevel cell (MLC)NANDflash memories in a mixed-field radiation facility CERN High-energy AcceleRator Mixed field/facility (CHARM), CERN. The results show that the behavior of devices is comparable to tests with specific high energy particles, such as high energy protons, heavy ions, and to TID tests. [...]

Isolated Auxiliary Power Supply Designs Using COTS Components / van der Blij, Nils H (CERN) ; Gisbert, Dorian D ; Fernández, Arturo (European Space Agency)
Compared to components available for terrestrial applications, the availability of space-grade DC/DC converters for isolated auxiliary power supplies is very limited. This paper presents a general structure for an auxiliary power supply and proposes five different designs exhibiting low footprint and fault tolerance. [...]

Radiation Hardness of MALTA2, a Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor for Tracking Applications / Berlea, D V (DESY, Zeuthen ; Humboldt U., Berlin (main)) ; Allport, P (Birmingham U.) ; Tortajada, I Asensi (CERN) ; Bortoletto, D (Oxford U.) ; Buttar, C (Glasgow U.) ; Charbon, E (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Dachs, F (CERN) ; Dao, V (CERN) ; Denizili, H (Abant Izzet Baysal U.) ; Dobrijevic, D (CERN) et al.
MALTA is a depleted monolithic active pixel sensor (DMAPS) developed in the Tower Semiconductor 180-nm CMOS imaging process. Monolithic CMOS sensors offer advantages over current hybrid imaging sensors in terms of both increased tracking performance due to lower material budget and ease of integration and construction costs due to the integration of read-out and active sensor into one ASIC. FastIC: A Highly Configurable ASIC for Fast Timing Applications / Gόmez, S (Barcelona, IEEC) ; Fernández-Tenllado, J M (CERN) ; Alozy, J (CERN) ; Campbell, M (CERN) ; Manera, R (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Mauricio, J (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Mariscal, A (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Pujol, C (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Sánchez, D (Barcelona, IEEC) ; Sanmukh, A (ICC, Barcelona U.) et al.
This work presents the 8-channel FastIC ASIC developed in CMOS 65 nm technology suitable for the readout of positive and negative polarity sensors with intrinsic amplification in High Energy Physics experiments, Positron Emission Tomography and other Time-of-Flight systems. The front-end can be configured to readout each input channel individually or perform analog summation of up to 4 single-ended channels before discrimination in view of extending precise timing to large and segmented areas. Performance Tests of Polyethylene Insulated High Voltage Low Attenuation Coaxial Cables for Pulsed Applications / Stadlbauer, T (CERN) ; Ducimetiere, L (CERN) ; Kontelis, D (CERN) ; Kramer, T (CERN) ; Pfeiler, C (Prysmian Group, Nuremberg) ; Rethmeier, K (U. Appl. Sci., Kiel) ; Sermeus, L (CERN)
In order to evaluate the strength as well as the weak points of different high voltage low attenuation polyethylene (PE) coaxial cables without semiconducting layers for pulsed applications, performance tests have been carried out. The gained knowledge shall help to produce an improved cable, suitable for the special requirements of the fast-pulsed high voltage kicker systems at CERN. [...]

Laser triggering of solid-state switches / Rodziewicz, J (CERN) ; Runason Simonsen, D (Aalborg U.) ; Carlier, E (CERN) ; Goddard, B (CERN)
A theoretical and experimental investigation has been made into the laser activated Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) turn-on process. Thanks to the measurement of illumination profile of the thyristor gate and a one-dimensional commutation model, a prediction can be made of the temperature hot spots of the initially conducting area region adjacent to the gate. A Low Noise Fault Tolerant Radiation Hardened 2.56 Gbps Clock-Data Recovery Circuit With High Speed Feed Forward Correction in 65 nm CMOS / Biereigel, Stefan (Leuven U.) ; Kulis, Szymon (CERN) ; Leitao, Pedro (CERN) ; Francisco, Rui (CERN) ; Moreira, Paulo (CERN) ; Leroux, Paul (Leuven U.) ; Prinzie, Jeffrey (Leuven U.)
A fault tolerant, radiation hardened Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) architecture is presented for high-energy physics and space applications. The CDR employs a novel soft-error tolerant Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) and includes a high-speed feed-forward path, which stabilizes the CDR by compensating for an additional pole introduced in the VCO in order to harden it against ionizing particles.
