QCD thermalization: Ab initio approaches and interdisciplinary connections / Berges, Jürgen (U. Heidelberg, ITP) ; Heller, Michal P. (Potsdam, Max Planck Inst.) ; Mazeliauskas, Aleksas (CERN) ; Venugopalan, Raju (Brookhaven)
Heavy-ion collisions at BNL's Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and CERN's Large Hadron Collider provide strong evidence for the formation of a quark-gluon plasma, with temperatures extracted from relativistic viscous hydrodynamic simulations shown to be well above the transition temperature from hadron matter. How the strongly correlated quark-gluon matter forms in a heavy-ion collision, its properties off-equilibrium, and the thermalization process in the plasma, are outstanding problems in QCD. [...]

Predictions for cold nuclear matter effects on charged hadrons, identified light hadrons, quarkonium and heavy flavor hadrons, Drell-Yan dileptons, jets, photons, gauge bosons and top quarks produced in $p+$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 8.16$ TeV are compiled and, where possible, compared to each other. Predictions of the normalized ratios of $p+$Pb to $p+p$ cross sections are also presented for most of the observables, providing new insights into the expected role of cold nuclear matter effects. How hot glue becomes a nearly perfect fluid: the problem of thermalization in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions / Venugopalan, Raju (speaker) (Brookhaven National Laboratory)
The hottest matter on earth is created when gluons (with a sprinkling of quark-antiquark pairs) are liberated in the collisions of ultra-relativistic heavy ions at the RHIC and LHC colliders. A fully *ab initio* understanding of how this strongly correlated gluon matter thermalizes and flows is lacking. [...]

High energy factorization in nucleus-nucleus collisions III. Long range rapidity correlations / Gelis, Francois (CERN ; DSM, DAPNIA, Saclay) ; Lappi, Tuomas (DSM, DAPNIA, Saclay) ; Venugopalan, Raju (Brookhaven)
We obtain a novel result in QCD for long range rapidity correlations between gluons produced in the collision of saturated high energy hadrons or nuclei. This result, obtained in a high energy factorization framework, provides strong justification for the Glasma flux tube picture of coherent strong color fields. [...]

High energy factorization in nucleus-nucleus collisions II - Multigluon correlations / Gelis, Francois (CERN) ; Lappi, Tuomas (Saclay, SPhT) ; Venugopalan, Raju (Brookhaven)
We extend previous results (arXiv:0804.2630 [hep-ph]) on factorization in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions by computing the inclusive multigluon spectrum to next-to-leading order. The factorization formula is strictly valid for multigluon emission in a slice of rapidity of width \Delta Y< 1/\alpha_s. [...]

Glasma flux tubes and the near side ridge phenomenon at RHIC / Dumitru, Adrian (Frankfurt U.) ; Gelis, Francois (CERN) ; McLerran, Larry (Brookhaven ; RIKEN BNL) ; Venugopalan, Raju (Brookhaven)
We investigate the consequences of long range rapidity correlations in the Glasma. Particles produced locally in the transverse plane are correlated by approximately boost invariant flux tubes of longitudinal color electric and magnetic fields that are formed when two sheets of Colored Glass Condensate pass through one another, each acquiring a modified color charge density in the collision. High energy factorization in nucleus-nucleus collisions, I / Gelis, Francois (CERN) ; Lappi, Tuomas (Saclay, SPhT) ; Venugopalan, Raju (Brookhaven)
We derive a high energy factorization theorem for inclusive gluon production in A+A collisions. Our factorized formula resums i) all order leading logarithms (g^2 \ln(1/x_{1,2}))^n of the incoming partons momentum fractions, and ii) all contributions (g \rho_{1,2})^n that are enhanced when the color charge densities in the two nuclei are of order of the inverse coupling-- \rho_{1,2}\sim g^{-1}. High energy scattering in Quantum Chromodynamics / Gelis, Francois (CERN) ; Lappi, Tuomas (Brookhaven) ; Venugopalan, Raju (Brookhaven)
In this series of three lectures, we discuss several aspects of high energy scattering among hadrons in Quantum Chromodynamics. The first lecture is devoted to a description of the parton model, Bjorken scaling and the scaling violations due to the evolution of parton distributions with the transverse resolution scale. [...]
