High Energy Physics Opportunities Using Reactor Antineutrinos / CHANDLER Collaboration
Nuclear reactors are uniquely powerful, abundant, and flavor-pure sources of antineutrinos that continue to play a vital role in the US neutrino physics program. [...]

Directionally Accelerated Detection of an Unknown Second Reactor with Antineutrinos for Mid-Field Nonproliferation Monitoring / AIT-WATCHMAN Collaboration
When monitoring a reactor site for nuclear nonproliferation purposes, the presence of an unknown or hidden nuclear reactor could be obscured by the activities of a known reactor of much greater power nearby. [...]

Mono Energetic Beams from Laser Plasma Interactions / Geddes, Cameron G ; Cary, John R ; Esarey, Eric ; Leemans, Wim ; Nieter, Chet ; Schröder, Carl B ; Toth, Csaba ; Van Tilborg, Jeroen
A laser driven wakefield accelerator has been tuned to produce high energy electron bunches with low emittance and energy spread by extending the interaction length using a plasma channel. Wakefield accelerators support gradients thousands of times those achievable in RF accelerators, but short acceleration distance, limited by diffraction, has resulted in low energy beams with 100% electron energy spread. [...]

Laser Guiding of a 100 TW Laser Beam in a Capillary Discharge Waveguide / Nagler, Bob ; Cowan, Thomas ; Esarey, Eric ; Filip, Catalin ; Geddes, Cameron G R ; Gonsalves, Anthony J ; Hooker, Simon ; Leemans, Wim ; Spence, D ; Toth, Csaba
Experiments are underway at LBNL on guiding high peak power (up to 100 TW), ultra-short (<50 fs) laser pulses using a preformed plasma channel created by an electrical discharge in a capillary. The laser beam is produced by the multi-beam l'OASIS Ti:sapphire laser system and is focused onto the entrance of the capillary using a 2 meter focal length off-axis parabola. [...]

Experimental progress towards the realization of a 1 GeV laser-driven plasma-based accelerator at the L’OASIS facility of LBNL will be discussed. The design of the 1 GeV accelerator module consists of two components: (1) an all-optical electron injector and (2) a plasma channel for laser guiding and electron acceleration to high energy via the laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA) mechanism [...]

Laser driven accelerators are capable of producing energetic electron beams using ultra-high gradients on the order of 10-100 GV/m. Prior to 2004, experiments had demonstrated high energy acceleration but with 100 % energy spread. [...]
