As nuclear and particle physics facilities move to higher intensities, the detectors used there must be more radiation tolerant. Diamond is in use at many facilities due to its inherent radiation tolerance and ease of use. [...]

Magnesium-Vacancy Optical Centers in Diamond / Corte, Emilio ; Andrini, Greta ; Nieto Hernández, Elena ; Pugliese, Vanna ; Costa, Ângelo ; Magchiels, Goele ; Moens, Janni ; Tunhuma, Shandirai Malven ; Villarreal, Renan ; Pereira, Lino M. C. et al.
We provide the first systematic characterization of the structural and photoluminescence properties of optically active centers fabricated upon implantation of 30–100 keV Mg+ ions in synthetic diamond. The structural configurations of Mg-related defects were studied by the electron emission channeling technique for short-lived, radioactive 27Mg implantations at the CERN-ISOLDE facility, performed both at room temperature and 800 °C, which allowed the identification of a major fraction of Mg atoms (∼30 to 42%) in sites which are compatible with the split-vacancy structure of the MgV complex. Progress in Diamond Detectors / RD42 Collaboration
Detectors based on Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) diamond have been used successfully in Luminosity and Beam Condition Monitors (BCM) in the highest radiation areas of the LHC. Future experiments at CERN will accumulate an order of magnitude larger fluence. [...]

Radiation tolerance of diamond detectors / RD42 Collaboration
Diamond is used as detector material in high energy physics experiments due to its inherent radiation tolerance. The RD42 collaboration has measured the radiation tolerance of chemical vapour deposition (CVD) diamond against proton, pion, and neutron irradiation. [...]

Diamond Detector Technology: Status and Perspectives / RD42 Collaboration
The radiation tolerance of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond against different particle species and energies has been studied in beam tests and is presented. We also present beam test results on signal size as a function of incident particle rate in charged particle detectors based on un-irradiated and irradiated poly-crystalline CVD diamond over a range of particle fluxes from 2 kHz/cm$^2$ to 20 MHz/cm$^2$. A Study of the Radiation Tolerance of CVD Diamond to 70 MeV Protons, Fast Neutrons and 200 MeV Pions / RD42 Collaboration
We measured the radiation tolerance of commercially available diamonds grown by the Chemical Vapor Deposition process by measuring the charge created by a 120 GeV hadron beam in a 50 μm pitch strip detector fabricated on each diamond sample before and after irradiation. We irradiated one group of samples with 70 MeV protons, a second group of samples with fast reactor neutrons (defined as energy greater than 0.1 MeV), and a third group of samples with 200 MeV pions, in steps, to (8.8±0.9) × 1015 protons/cm2, (1.43±0.14) × 1016 neutrons/cm2, and (6.5±1.4) × 1014 pions/cm2, respectively. Recent progress in CVD diamond detector R&D / RD42 Collaboration
We present an overview of the latest developments from RD42 in diamond detector R&D.; They include the radiation hardness coefficients for 800MeV and 24 GeV protons, the hit detectionefficiency for two 3D detector prototypes with two different readout chips and a novel method for investigating charge transport in single crystal diamonds..
