The LHCb upgrade I / LHCb Collaboration
The LHCb upgrade represents a major change of the experiment. The detectors have been almost completely renewed to allow running at an instantaneous luminosity five times larger than that of the previous running periods. [...]

First high-statistics and high-resolution recoil-ion data from the WITCH retardation spectrometer / Finlay, P (Leuven U.) ; Breitenfeldt, M (Leuven U.) ; Porobić, T (Leuven U.) ; Wursten, E (Leuven U.) ; Ban, G (Caen U.) ; Beck, M (Munster U.) ; Couratin, C (Leuven U.) ; Fabian, X (Caen U.) ; Fléchard, X (Caen U.) ; Friedag, P (Munster U.) et al.
The first high-statistics and high-resolution data set for the integrated recoil-ion energy spectrum following the $ \beta^+$ decay of$^{35}$Ar has been collected with the WITCH retardation spectrometer located at CERN-ISOLDE. Over 25 million recoil-ion events were recorded on a large-area multichannel plate (MCP) detector with a time-stamp precision of 2ns and position resolution of 0.1mm due to the newly upgraded data acquisition based on the LPC Caen FASTER protocol. Hadron shower decomposition in the highly granular CALICE analogue hadron calorimeter / CALICE Collaboration
The spatial development of hadronic showers in the CALICE scintillator-steel analogue hadron calorimeter is studied using test beam data collected at CERN and FNAL for single positive pions and protons with initial momenta in the range from 10 to 80 GeV/c. Both longitudinal and radial development of hadron showers are parametrised with two-component functions. [...]

First results of the CALICE SDHCAL technological prototype / CALICE Collaboration
The CALICE Semi-Digital Hadronic Calorimeter (SDHCAL) prototype, built in 2011, was exposed to beams of hadrons, electrons and muons in two short periods in 2012 on two different beam lines of the CERN SPS. The prototype with its 48 active layers, made of Glass Resistive Plate Chambers and their embedded readout electronics, was run in triggerless and power-pulsing mode [...]

Search for a scalar component in the weak interaction / Zakoucky, Dalibor (Rez, Nucl. Phys. Inst.) ; Baczyk, Pavel (CERN) ; Ban, Gilles (Caen U.) ; Beck, Marcus (Munster U. ; Mainz U.) ; Breitenfeldt, Martin (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Couratin, Claire (Caen U.) ; Fabian, Xavier (Caen U.) ; Finlay, Paul (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Flechard, Xavier (Caen U.) ; Friedag, Peter (Munster U. ; U. Munster) et al.
Weak interactions are described by the Standard Model which uses the basic assumption of a pure “V(ector)-A(xial vector)” character for the interaction. However, after more than half a century of model development and experimental testing of its fundamental ingredients, experimental limits for possible admixtures of scalar and/or tensor interactions are still as high as 7%. Transverse-target-spin asymmetry in exclusive $\omega$-meson electroproduction / HERMES Collaboration
Hard exclusive electroproduction of $\omega$ mesons is studied with the HERMES spectrometer at the DESY laboratory by scattering 27.6 GeV positron and electron beams off a transversely polarized hydrogen target. The amplitudes of five azimuthal modulations of the single-spin asymmetry of the cross section with respect to the transverse proton polarization are measured. [...]

The Time Structure of Hadronic Showers in Highly Granular Calorimeters with Tungsten and Steel Absorbers / CALICE Collaboration
The intrinsic time structure of hadronic showers influences the timing capability and the required integration time of hadronic calorimeters in particle physics experiments, and depends on the active medium and on the absorber of the calorimeter. With the CALICE T3B experiment, a setup of 15 small plastic scintillator tiles read out with Silicon Photomultipliers, the time structure of showers is measured on a statistical basis with high spatial and temporal resolution in sampling calorimeters with tungsten and steel absorbers.
