Beam dynamics and wakefield suppression in interleaved damped and detuned structures for CLIC / D'Elia, A (Manchester U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; CERN) ; Higo, T (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Khan, V F (CERN) ; Jones, R M (Manchester U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Latina, A (CERN) ; Nesmiyan, I (Manchester U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Riddone, G (CERN)
Acceleration of multiple bunches of charged particles in the main linacs of the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) with high accelerating fields provides two major challenges: firstly, to ensure the surface electromagnetic fields do not cause electrical breakdown and subsequent surface damage, and secondly, to ensure the beam-excited wakefields are sufficiently suppressed to avoid appreciable emittance dilution. In the baseline design for CLIC, heavy wakefield suppression is used (Q ~ 10) [1] and this ensures the beam quality is well-preserved [2]. [...]

Comparative Wakefield Analysis of a First Prototype of a DDS Structure for CLIC Main Linac / D'Elia, A. (Manchester U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; CERN) ; Jones, R.M. (Manchester U. ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Khan, V.F. (CERN) ; Grudiev, A. (CERN) ; Wuensch, W. (CERN)
A Damped Detuned Structure (DDS) for CLIC main linac has been proposed as an alternative to the present baseline design which is based on heavy damping. A first prototype, CLIC_DDS_A, for high power tests has been already designed and is under construction. [...]

Engineering design and fabrication of X-Band damped detuned structure for the CLIC study / Soldatov, V (Dubna, JINR) ; Samoshkin, A (Dubna, JINR) ; Gudkov, D (Dubna, JINR) ; Atieh, S (CERN) ; Grudiev, A (CERN) ; Khan, V F ; Riddone, G (CERN) ; D’Elia, A (CERN) ; Jones, R M (Manchester U.)
A Damped Detuned Structure (DDS), known as CLIC_DDS_A [1], has been designed for the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) study, and is presently under fabrication. The wakefield in the DDS structures is damped using a combination of detuning the frequencies of beam-excited higher order modes and by light damping, through slot-coupled manifolds. [...]
