CERN Linac4 Chopper Dump: Operational Experience and Future Upgrades
/ Sharp, Calum (CERN) ; Andreu Muñoz, Pablo (CERN) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) ; Costa, Gabriele (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Franqueira Ximenes, Rui (CERN) ; Grenier, Damien (CERN) ; Grenier-Boley, Edouard (CERN) ; Hunt, James (CERN) ; Krainer, Alexander (CERN) et al.
The Chopper Dump in the Linac4 accelerator at CERN is a beam-intercepting device responsible for the absorption of the 3 MeV H⁻ ion beam produced by the Linac4 source and deflected upstream by an electromagnetic chopper. It allows a portion of the beam, which would otherwise fall into the unstable region of the radiofrequency buckets in the Proton Synchrotron Booster, to be dumped at low energy with minimal induced radiation. Transverse Beam Profile Measurements from Extraction Losses in the PS
/ Hunt, James R (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Giovannozzi, Massimo (CERN) ; Huschauer, Alexander (CERN) ; Russo, Giulia (CERN ; Frankfurt U.)
During Multi-Turn Extraction (MTE) of continuous beams in the Proton Synchrotron (PS) at CERN, losses are generated on the blade of both the active and non-active septum during the rise time of the extraction kickers. Utilising pCVD Diamond detectors, secondary signal generated from these losses is measured. [...]

Collimation Strategies for Secondary Beams in FCC-hh Ion-Ion Operation
/ Hunt, James (CERN) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Carra, Federico (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Guardia-Valenzuela, Jorge (CERN) ; Molson, James (CERN)
The target peak luminosity of the CERN FCC-hh during Pb-Pb collisions is more than a factor of 50 greater than that achieved by the LHC in 2018. As a result, the intensity of secondary beams produced in collisions at the interaction points will be significantly higher than previously experienced. [...]

The CMS Phase-1 Pixel Detector Upgrade
/ CMS Tracker Group of the CMS Collaboration
The CMS detector at the CERN LHC features a silicon pixel detector as its innermost subdetector. The original CMS pixel detector has been replaced with an upgraded pixel system (CMS Phase-1 pixel detector) in the extended year-end technical stop of the LHC in 2016/2017. [...]

Study of the transverse emittance blow-up along the Proton Synchrotron Booster cycle during wire scanner operation
/ Santamaría García, Andrea (CERN) ; Antoniou, Fanouria (CERN) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Briz Monago, Jose (CERN) ; Di Giovanni, Gian Piero (CERN) ; Guerrero Ollacarizqueta, Ana (CERN) ; Hunt, James (CERN) ; Mikulec, Bettina (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Senes, Eugenio (CERN) et al.
Transverse emittance measurements with wire scanners have been extensively studied across the accelerator complex at CERN due to their important role in characterizing the beams and their complicated modelling. In recent years, this topic has been of particular interest for the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project, where a tight transverse emittance blow-up budget between the Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) and the Proton Synchrotron (PS) is imposed to ensure the required beam brightness for the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC).
