The Hi-GAL compact source catalogue – I. The physical properties of the clumps in the inner Galaxy (−71$_{.}^{\circ}$0 < ℓ < 67$_{.}^{\circ}$0) / Elia, Davide (INAF, Rome) ; Molinari, S. (INAF, Rome) ; Schisano, E. (INAF, Rome) ; Pestalozzi, M. (INAF, Rome) ; Pezzuto, S. (INAF, Rome) ; Merello, M. (INAF, Rome) ; Noriega-Crespo, A. (Baltimore, Space Telescope Sci.) ; Moore, T.J. T. (Liverpool John Moores U., ARI) ; Russeil, D. (Marseille, Lab. Astrophys.) ; Mottram, J.C. (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst. Astron.) et al.
Hi-GAL is a large-scale survey of the Galactic plane, performed with Herschel in five infrared continuum bands between 70 and 500 $\mu$m. We present a band-merged catalogue of spatially matched sources and their properties derived from fits to the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) and heliocentric distances, based on the photometric catalogs presented in Molinari et al. [...]

Planck 2013 results. XIII. Galactic CO emission / Planck collaboration
Rotational transition lines of CO play a major role in molecular radio astronomy and in particular in the study of star formation and the Galactic structure. Although a wealth of data exists in the Galactic plane and some well-known molecular clouds, there is no available CO high sensitivity all-sky survey to date. [...]

The MICE Muon Beam on ISIS and the beam-line instrumentation of the Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment / MICE Collaboration
The international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE), which is under construction at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), will demonstrate the principle of ionization cooling as a technique for the reduction of the phase-space volume occupied by a muon beam. Ionization cooling channels are required for the Neutrino Factory and the Muon Collider. [...]

Recent progress in neutrino factory and muon collider research within the Muon Collaboration / International Muon Collaboration
We describe the status of our effort to realize a first neutrino factory and the progress made in understanding the problems associated with the collection and cooling of muons towards that end. We summarize the physics that can be done with neutrino factories as well as with intense cold beams of muons. [...]

Beam Test Proposal of an ODR Beam Size Monitor at the SLAC FFTB / Fukui, Yasuo ; Aryshev, Alexander ; Bolton, Paul R ; Cline, David B ; Hamatsu, Ryosuke ; Karataev, Pavel ; Muto, Toshiya ; Naumenko, Gennady ; Potylitsyn, Alexander ; Ross, Marc et al.
We design a single bunch transverse beam size monitor which will be tested to measure the 29 GeV electron/positron beam at the SLAC FFTB beam line. The beam size monitor uses a CCD camera to make images of the interference pattern of the optical diffraction radiation from conductive slit target which are placed close to the beam path. In this method, destruction of the accelerated electron/positron beam bunches due to the beam size monitoring is negligible, which is vital to the operation of the Linear Collider project. [...]

The construction of the J-PARC (Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex) linac is under going. RF sources for the low beta linac section use 324-MHz klystrons and after the evaluation of seven prototype tubes, mass production of 20 tubes are conducted. [...]

A second generation of long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments has been proposed as one of the main projects at J-PARC jointly built by JAERI and KEK. Superconducting combined function magnets, SCFMs, will be utilized for the 50 GeV, 750 kW proton beam line for the neutrino experiment and an R&D; program is in underway at KEK. [...]
