The ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider: a description of the detector configuration for Run 3 / ATLAS Collaboration
The ATLAS detector is installed in its experimental cavern at Point 1 of the CERN Large Hadron Collider. During Run 2 of the LHC, a luminosity of $\mathcal{L}=2\times 10^{34}\mathrm{cm}^{-2}\mathrm{s}^{-1}$ was routinely achieved at the start of fills, twice the design luminosity. [...]

In order to extend its discovery potential, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will have a major upgrade (Phase II Upgrade) scheduled for 2022. The LHC after the upgrade, called High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), will operate at a nominal leveled instantaneous luminosity of 5× 10(34) cm(−)(2) s(−)(1), more than twice the expected Phase I . [...]

Measurement of the centrality dependence of the charged-particle pseudorapidity distribution in proton--lead collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_\text{NN}}} = 5.02$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
The centrality dependence of the mean charged-particle multiplicity as a function of pseudorapidity is measured in approximately 1 $\mu$b$^{-1}$ of proton--lead collisions at a nucleon--nucleon centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s_{_\text{NN}}} = 5.02$ TeV using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Charged particles with absolute pseudorapidity less than 2.7 are reconstructed using the ATLAS pixel detector. [...]

Centrality, rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of isolated prompt photon production in lead-lead collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 2.76$ TeV measured with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Prompt photon production in $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 2.76$ TeV Pb+Pb collisions has been measured by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using data collected in 2011 with an integrated luminosity of 0.14 nb$^{-1}$. Inclusive photon yields, scaled by the mean nuclear thickness function, are presented as a function of collision centrality and transverse momentum in two pseudo rapidity intervals, $|\eta| < 1.37$ and $1.52 < |\eta| < 2.37$. Measurement of the production of neighbouring jets in lead-lead collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 2.76$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
This Letter presents measurements of correlated production of nearby jets in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 2.76$ TeV using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The measurement was performed using 0.14 ${\rm nb}^{-1}$ of data recorded in 2011. [...]

High-voltage pixel sensors for ATLAS upgrade / Perić, I (Heidelberg U.) ; Kreidl, C (Heidelberg U.) ; Fischer, P (Heidelberg U.) ; Bompard, F (Marseille, CPPM) ; Breugnon, P (Marseille, CPPM) ; Clemens, J -C (Marseille, CPPM) ; Fougeron, D (Marseille, CPPM) ; Liu, J (Marseille, CPPM) ; Pangaud, P (Marseille, CPPM) ; Rozanov, A (Marseille, CPPM) et al.
The high-voltage (HV-) CMOS pixel sensors offer several good properties: a fast charge collection by drift, the possibility to implement relatively complex CMOS in-pixel electronics and the compatibility with commercial processes. The sensor element is a deep n-well diode in a p-type substrate. [...]

Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of electron and muon pair-production in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
This paper presents measurements from the ATLAS experiment of the forward-backward asymmetry in the reaction $pp\rightarrow Z/\gamma^{*}\rightarrow l^{+}l^{-}$, with $l$ being electrons or muons, and the extraction of the effective weak mixing angle. The results are based on the full set of data collected in 2011 in $pp$ collisions at the LHC at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.8 fb$^{-1}$. [...]

Luminosity upgrades are discussed for the LHC (HL-LHC) which would make updates to the detectors necessary, requiring in particular new, even more radiation-hard and granular, sensors for the inner detector region. 1Corresponding author. [...]
